Sleep-Enticing Amenities

In addition to the sleep-enticing United Polaris personal suites, several other amenities were designed with our customers' sleep in mind.

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, United has worked with leading luxury specialty store Saks Fifth Avenue for custom-designed bedding. All designed to provide the best sleep in the sky, the new bedding collection will feature plush duvets, lightweight day-blankets and a large and small pillow for each United Polaris customer. In addition, mattress cushions will be available upon request.

Slippers will be available on all flights, and customized United Polaris pajamas will be available by request on flights longer than 12 hours*. Flyers will also be able to request a gel-cooled pillow. New amenity kits will feature ergonomically designed eye shades, calming lavender pillow mist and additional products from Soho House & Co.'s Cowshed Spa.

With the introduction of United Polaris, the airline intends to donate tens of thousands of pillows, blankets and other inflight service items to Fisher House Foundation, which United and its employees have long supported.

Both legs of an EWR-HKG round trip in the last week did not run out of champagne. It was something I'd never heard of, but was ok. The bright side of the stories above is that UA may have to drop prices to where they were last year if people take their $6K to CX.

On flights to/from AKL and SFO, they had French wine.

To be fair, this is all airlines and most companies.

The other night on UA 28 SIN-SFO, they announced that because of flight delays, there would be no PDBs. (We boarded ~40 minutes late due to a late inbound.)

At least they did manage to get out by the revised departure time (only ~30 minutes late or so). Not sure that lack of PDBs actually contributed much to that fast turn, though.

The "Polaris burger" looks a LOT more appetizing than the main course in-flight!

My wife had the burger and I tried a piece and it was tasty. The main course, while not presented well, went down without issue and didn’t taste bad IMO.

Makes me always wonder why UA even bothers about cheap French varietals, given there are so many great wines &
good values from stateside/CA - and actually NZ producers.

This is the PL burger with the fries alongside; burgers are usually not part of the long-distance dining offerings.
