is still ( thankfully ) working for me.

And I agree, the new site sucks big time.

Not for me.

Same here, using Firefox. Stopped some time overnight I guess. It still works in Safari for me though on my ipad.

This site is a disaster. This company is a disaster. What other company randomly displays one of two websites every time you log in (one that works and one that's clearly still in beta mode)? What kind of company has a rollout plan like this? At least put a warning on the home page that says the site may not function properly.

And while I appreciate sbm12 providing browser extensions, it's really sad that it's necessary to do that when the old site worked perfectly fine for me without installing anything on my own.

Fortunately all my work travel has to be booked through a TA site.

Total joke of a rollout right now...you have the "new" landing page and then everything still reverts back to the old CO site?? I figured that once you could no longer revert back to the previous version of UA the new site would be fully implemented...just horrible.

Awful awful awful.

Especially for award searches. The colors and layout are unappealing and distracting. Before I could put in a search and know the availability pretty quickly and now the colors and layout are so bad that it's not clear right away what is and is not available and at what price.

What is the obsession with making websites or OS for laptops/desktops that mimic tablets/mobile (looking at you Windows 8).

I used to be able to get back to the old site, but no more as of this morning. The new site is simply horrid and not ready for go-live.

The abject indifference continues...

Any ideas on how I could find upgrade award space on the new United.com?

Hi jazuli14, Weclome to FT. I had Expert Mode set up on the "old" site. Was directed to the "new" this morning for the first time. At the lower part of the flight information box you will see "details" I pressed on that and the expert mode information came up for me.. Thanks and Safe Travels

If you're using Chrome install this browser extension: http://blog.wandr.me/2015/08/united-...-new-features/

Makes life much easier.

Could be. But it doesn't show that for revenue flights, either. Unless you count the PQD number as being that data which can vary by fare class.

n.b. The link above is to my blog or to one which I am a regular contributor. FT rules require that I disclose that in the post.

Thanks for the updated plug-in!

makes it a little better ... still not good.

Not just the home page. Try booking a flight. That is far worse than the home page.

+1
I want a mobile experience on a mobile device. Nowhere else.

Most consumers want a consistent experience, not a totally different UI/UX depending on which device they're using.

This worked last night but all browsers now bring up the new site. However, after signing in, I retrieved a reservation and the interface changed to the old one! If I sign in again, I get the new design again.

Understood - but doesn't this just lower the bar on everyone's experience to what works best on a 5" screen?

I understand responsive design vs. having a separate mobile site, and I get your point.

Interestingly, people tend to be fine with an app being different than a website (regardless of the device on which that site is rendered).

I don't have a touch screen laptop, I don't want a touch screen experience. That's what Windows 8 started, and what we see in the new UA site.

I'm not a web designer or programmer, so not claiming to be an expert. I don't think I'm alone in hating the Windows 8 design though.

The new site has always worked that way. They've only changed the page designs of the home page and flight search so far. I'm sure within a couple years the whole new site will be finished.

I think that stating that "Most consumers want a consistent experience" is more of an opinion than fact. Unless, there are links to data that supports this.

IMHO, given a choice, most consumers would want:
1. An easy experience.
2. An intuitive interface.
3. An effective experience.
4. An efficient experience.

i'm with others who say they don't have a problem with using desktop, laptop, mobile, apps, as long as it fits the above criteria. And, when you have to start adding extensions, etc., that just shows poor design and implementation. My .02¢.

I agree that the new interface is an example of dumbing down to the lowest common demoninator. As for myself, I expect a Different experience on a large screen.
