Seeing as I booked Aeroplan, would United have access to changing my ticket, or would I have to call aeroplan? (They're considered the "agent" who sold me the ticket in this case)

FWIW...my first leg of the Aeroplan flight is YYZ-LAX on AC, with a 12 hour layover before UA98. If the candellation were to happen during the layover, I assume United has responsibility of carriage for me by that time? Perhaps who I call, depends on when I get notification of a possible cancellation... If it's days in advance, I might have to also deal with Aeroplan, as I need to find a way to make a connection from Toronto first!

On the day of travel, it's the operating carrier you deal with, not the ticketing carrier. Before the day of travel, it's the ticketing carrier. Does Zeroplan ticket through AC, or has it become an online travel agent and perhaps ticket directly with each carrier?

Interesting about the "day of" vs. "Day before" distinction on how to know who to deal with. I did not know that.

The ticket code for Aeroplan Is the same as Air Canada's ticket code, 014, but if you try to deal with anything thru Air Canada directly after booking the ticket, they almost always tell you they can't touch it because somehow they can tell it's an Aeroplan booking. You can select Seats thru the AC website, but the app won't let you touch the booking. I am booked on a connecting flight (not two separate ones) but I still have to select seats on The United portions and the Air Canada portions on their own websites. I find it all very restrictive and customer unfriendly, which is why I'm nailing down a contingency plan, in case it happens to me. For the average non-flyertalker, they wouldnt know what to do.

Oh BTW, I didn't get "Zeroplan" at first because I thought it was just a typo, but now I get it! Ha ha!

At first it was a typo, but then when I saw it, I decided that I'd been guided to make this mistake by a higher power that was trying to speak to us about that particular entity - and thus added the emoticon for emphasis.

Probably due to the issue they had with sending that EWR-ZRH back to EWR halfway through the flight.

Delay of one hour so far due to mechanical issues; did leave 90 mins or so late, but arrived in London with only a 20-30 minute delay due to favourable tailwinds. thats good luck for all of us !

FLT 16 delayed due to an aircraft swap for such a stupid reason too. FLT was originally scheduled tail 118 but has since been assigned tail 140. Tail 140 was supposed to be an RON before departing to IAH tomorrow morning but instead IAH gets 118 which is now the RON and LHR gets 140 the broken aircraft which was intended for tomorrows IAH flight

What's Going On With UA78 Today Feb 12

Flight diverting to ORD but the flight path shows a deep dive southbound near Alaska towards Hawaii then a turn back towards Chicago. Planned short ground time in ORD before continuing to EWR... and that's after a huge delay in Narita to start with. What in the world is happening with this flight?

from flight aware for that flight:
Code:
Time Latitude	Longitude	Course	Direction	KTS	MPH	feet	Rate	Location/Type
Fri 11:02:00 AM	46.0476	161.5436	56°	Northeast Level FlightAware Approximate
Fri 11:02:43 AM	36.0833	167.4500	92°	East	549	632	32,000 Level Oakland Oceanic
The northern route was probably the planned route and for some reason it took a southern route. It certainly didn't fly between (46.0476,161.5436) to (36.0833,167.4500) in 43 seconds.

The southern route is longer so they had to stop at ORD for fuel is my guess.

I wonder what caused the lengthy departure delay from Narita, and why in the world would they switch to a route that required a fuel stop... Seems very strange

Sun 2/14 UA876 HND-SFO (arr Sat 2/13) canceled due to maintenance. The plane 772/2897/227UA is to be ferried back (only 11 seats taken) as UA2103 Mon 2/15, 2 h after UA876 Mon 2/15 which is nearly full. Looks like everyone has been re-accommodated on the next 876 or other NRT flights.
