1/1 UA835 ORD-PVG 744 Cancelled due to aircraft maintenance
1/1 UA946 IAD-AMS 763 Cancelled due to aircraft maintenance

therefore:
1/2 UA836 PVG-ORD 744 Cancelled due to aircraft maintenance
1/2 UA947 AMS-IAD 763 Cancelled due to aircraft maintenance

also because UA863 on 12/31 SFO-SYD diverted to HNL:
1/2 UA840 SYD-LAX 772 Cancelled due to aircraft maintenance


interesting fact: according to the first post in the 2015 thread UA946 cancelled on 1/1/15 (due to maintenance) as well. maybe you'd want to avoid that flight in 2017.

looks like we're in for a long thread again this year.

If we're gonna have another one of these 100+ page threads again I ask that a legit reason is posted as to why the flight is delayed/cancelled. All too often in the 2015 thread I saw a bunch of made up reasons as to why a flight was delayed/cancelled. Example if there is no reason listed don't automatically assume it's due to MX.

1/1: both the DXB and KWI westbound flights (UA977/981) made "planned" fuel stops in BOS before continuing on to IAD.

i'm actually surprised this hasn't happened more often now that the route is flown a longer distance to avoid certain areas. maybe we'll see more UA heavies in BOS before the flights end in a few weeks.

1/1 UA839 lax to Syd. Diverted to HNL due to medical emergency. Crew exceeded flight hours so stuck here overnight till the afternoon next day. First major Irrops for me, so hopefully 1K does something..

UA835 on 1/2 delayed (again) for 8H 40M and still ongoing... I suspect it may eventually get cancelled. "Not a bad start" for UA....
