I believe the other option was an Asian beef salad. I had the chicken Katsu.

I received a pretzel roll, which was not in the photo No other bread choices. The salad was tasty. Much more refreshing and different than most domestic side salads I've had. Chicken Katsu was also delicious.

Catering did not load cookies. I heard the F/As joke around about taking a delay for the cookies with the gate agents. I was more disappointed than any grown man should be that I didn't get my warm cookie, or any other sugar on the flight. I made up for it by getting two cookies at Chick-Fil-A after landing. Since I had time on my hands, I wrote a comment to UA through the website about my cookie disappointment. The response I got didn't seem appropriate to the message I wrote. It was like the customer service person didn't even read what I wrote.

Lunch

We lucked out today as the flight we needed today was an international configuration lie flat Business First 757. Today's lunch options were the same as last week's DEN-PIT, Fiesta Chicken or Pepper salmon salad, which was OK.

The best part of the meal was the chocolate chip cookie. :)

p.s. service EWR>SFO

Had a simply superb meal on the way to SFO, honestly something I'd order in a restaurant without hesitation. It's especially great to see UA stepping up its game with regard to vegetarian meals!

Menu

They've really been knocking it out with these salads!

Equipment upgrade from 757 (16 business) to 777 (40 business / 8 first) from IAD-LAX last night. All elites cleared as did most employees.

Had the chicken katsu which did not exactly taste healthy, but was delicious. Refills of hot nuts (still hot) upon request! Other choice was pasta.

Economy was very lightly filled. Great crew.

Route: DFW-EWR
Flight: 1927
Date/Time: Feb 21 13:49
Seat: 1E (A319)
Meal: Lunch

After boarding we were offered a PDB and then shortly after take-off the flight attendant came around with the nuts. They were in the ramekin but they were ice cold. As soon as she was done passing them out she offered an additional beverage and then began taking meal orders. I am not sure what order she went in, but she started with me (I'm just a gold) and my travel companion then finished up the other six passengers.

Our options for lunch were salad with breaded chicken or a chicken sandwich and side salad. Both options came with a fruit plate. I took the salad, and gave my friend the chicken, it was like a cold chicken cutlet. My salad was spinach based with cheese, but was barely enough to fill me. The chicken sandwich was warmed, but it had cheese and what looked like one spinach leaf and a red pepper on it. The side salad with was delicious thanks to the lemon vinaigrette dressing.

By the time the last meal was handed out the flight attendant had starting passing out the cookies. They smelled good and tasted delicious but fell apart in your hand because they were so soft.

The entire cabin was done with their meals and we had just under two hours left in the flight. Seemed like a very rushed service. Drink refills were offered. The meal was decent but the portions seem smaller and the lack of bread or soup is probably what makes it seem like not enough food.

How about the warm towels? I had them at breakfast on a 752 but not on the E170 or A319. Consistently inconsistent?

Glad to see the Katsu showing up on domestic routes with some frequency. It has always been one of the consistently better pre-arrival meals on the TPACS.

Ended up as #2 on the upgrade list this morning ORD-SLC, and was seated in 7D on a A319. Having to hear the FA offer the french toast souffle to the F pax and then having to smell it all flight was torture! I ended up with a free bistro scramble as a 1K but it was meh.

Feb. 17, ORD-LAX, lunch
Choice of beef something (I can't eat beef so didn't pay any attention to it) or shrimp and grits. The shrimp was wonderful, but even the spicy marinara sauce couldn't entice me to eat the grits under it (which were an odd choice comiing out of Chicago). Plus salad and raspberry sorbet.

Feb. 17, LAX-LIH, dinner
Lobster mac & cheese or chicken cacciatore with white rice. The chicken was tasty. Salad and white chocolate mac nut cookies.

Other option was salmon salad. I found the chicken dish boring. Pretzel rolls and butter served also. Served with a chocolate chip cookie before landing.

The other option was Lentil Chile. Jambalaya was fine. No butter offered with the roll. We received a warm chocolate chip cookie about 45 minute before landing. Service started off good, but trailed off. Asked for a drink and the F/A forgot my order when an F/A came up from the back and engaged him in along personal conversation. Then he left the cart out in front of the left bulkhead unattended for at least 10 minutes. The card rolled forward and two wine bottles were precariously perched for several minutes before the F/A returned to the front of the cabin and straightened up. Seems like an FAA violation.

The Captain gave a long, maybe 5 minute intro to the F/C cabin, explaining the route of flight, weather, introducing the crew, thanking us for our business, offering to answer questions, etc. A nice touch, but the intro was a little long. The captain sent back business cards with a personal note to all F/C pax later in the flight.

Interesting experience today on UA 4765 ATL-DEN
The othwise very friendly FAs totally ignored both the tablet with towels boarded and the aluminum tray with the nut ramekins. Could see them clearly in the two containers underneath the drawers. When I asked about a got a very brisk "we don't deal with that"
First time I had the grilled pineapple and chicken salad and I must say I liked it very much.

Lunch??

Another all chicken flight with a theoretical choice of chicken salad or chicken sandwich. Fortunately, by the time FA got to us, GS and 1Ks had chosen all the salads and left the better chicken sandwich for us and the other UA kettles. :D Pretty tasty and I ate the whole thing.

No idea what was in the arugula salad but it was OK and different. Grapes were a nice complement.

Always excellent baked on board chocolate chip.
