I had a rental with Thrifty a year ago with this deal, and I received my points just like I would have from Hertz.

Our CDP is often times the better rate, and I go with it.... though in some locations (SFO being a prime example), this Hertz promo saves me 30-40% over the CDP in most instances. When it comes to insurance on vehicles, the policy does not come with the CDP... our company has a separate policy, so I do not have to use the CDP to guarantee insurance.

No... must use one or the other. No double-dipping allowed (points for both Hertz and UA).

You all will be able to appreciate this. I received an offer for 5750 miles good through 1/31, so I've been doing as many pick up and return immediately rentals as I can, when I can find a good rate. I did it yesterday at OKC and was talking with the man who checked me back in. He said that a few weeks ago he had a guy do the same thing 18! times in one day. He'd claim a car, drive it off, and immediately turn around and drive it back. I'm wondering, do you all think that he would have gotten the full credit for such a thing? If so, I know what I'm doing next month! :-D

Just wondering, if anyone has found particularly cheap airports for Hertz rentals? At 5750 a pop I'm happy to fly somewhere and just rent over and over . . . . :-) Thanks!

Depends how you define "particularly cheap." During this promo, I've been renting at IAD, with an average rental right at $25. Unfortunately, although I have a few more booked before the 3,000 point "summer bonus" disappears into the January icy cold, in the past few weeks I've not been able to find any more sub-$30 rentals for this month. If you're looking, pay attention to Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays which is when I've consistently found the the lowest rates, when available. Good luck.

And if at first you don't succeed, try try again. I check daily, as I've seen some pretty wild price fluctuations from day-to-day. For example, the $24.99 all-in rate that I'm holding for January 18, and was booked on December 23, is now $45--and I've seen it even higher.

Good for you! In some cases I've done that three or four times with a single booking over the past six months. Unfortunately right now at IAD the only changes seem to be with increasing rates. But I'm hoping that with the holidays ended we'll see some price drops in the next week or so.
