This seems like crazy overkill but it did actually seem to work.

When making a series of changes to complicated pre-devaluation award tickets, my wife's strategy has been "first ask the agent to make a small change to a simple one-way ticket, and if that gets processed rapidly and correctly, then ask the question about the big itinerary."
This seems like crazy overkill but it did actually seem to work.

(Only Kidding)!!!
Actually being giddy cause I get to fly LAX-MSP on an RJ (3 1/2 hrs) with pre-prepared Subway sandwiches in the morn. Wanted to take some McD's crap to get even for the past several years of stench when the kettle's passed by me, but I'm not sure if there are enough barf bags in the front.

It should not.
Well, I care less about UA or CO. They should work together. Love it or leave it. I see a management problem here. I'll lay off the Union issues.
I remember CO when it was a great airline. It was based at LAX. This was before Lorenzo took over and moved to Houston. CO was a great airline (I wished at the time, they would merge with Western).
UA was a great carrier, as well, with the help of Pan Am pacific routes. Brilliant move by UA buying those routes.
As far as bring up sCO. I don't care where the employee came from. Their paycheck says United Continental Holdings, Inc. (UAL). Do your job, and put a smile on your face.
Bring back a leader like Robert F. Six.
Perhaps, bring back Lorenzo. He at least flew real jets and offered limes.

I understand the worry about noting the record in a case where an agent's discretion is involved—i.e., a free change after a minor schedule change—but what do those who are mentioning PNR notes think could be noted? This person is not allowed to SDC? It seems like PNR notes that are simply blatant policy misstatements wouldn't actually be a problem.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.1.2; en-us; LG-P659 Build/JZO54K) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)
They're not, and they sometimes result in more accommodation on a future call because you can refer the agent to where you'd been wronged.
If I get one of these rogue CO agents who doesn't understand policy, I sometimes call them on it and tell them I plan to call back to speak to someone else. That encourages them to document the record and their incorrect position.
If you really want to push it, you can then even write in on the training issue since their ID is documented in the record.
Documentation goes both ways.

The problem with the "new UA" is they still run as 2 airlines - 3-1/2 years after the merger. Run as a "TEAM". Cut the UA vs CO crap.
Both airlines had their + and -, but now you are one.
Get the Union crap out of the way, and I am NOT blaming employees at the "new UA". I blame management.
DL did it, and they are making record profits.
Hold a few pom-pom sessions and build morale. Do right for the customer and the employees. Just a thought from LAS on a Sat. night.

The words, Continental Airlines, Air Micronesia, Eastern Air Lines, Frontier Airlines (old), Texas International Airlines, People Express, Pan Am, etc. need to leave the UA "talk". You work for United Continental Holdings, Inc. (UAL) -NYSE
Love it or leave it. That is your current employer.

But then why are you blaming management? My impression is that management would love to do that, but the employee contracts prohibit it and so the employees and unions have used their contractual rights to block it.
