Yes twice, those answers are supposedly straight from the rate desk. The 50 minute hold time x2 is all I have to show for it.

Can you get it booked without the OJ (ie insert a NRT-ICN leg) and then post ticketing call in and delete the leg?

I'm not sure deleting it will work but I could add a NRT-ICN leg and from what I've been told that would make it legal however then I'm bumping up against to many segments and it would force an overnight at ICN.

Is this legal?

YYZ-FRA
FRA-BKK
BKK-KIX
KIX-HND (Destination)
HND-TSA (Stopover)
TPE-ICN
ICN-LAX
LAX-YYZ

Couple Questions
1. Will I get in trouble if I have openjaw at TSA/TPE? Do I need to change to NRT TPE to make it legal and leave O/J at HND/NRT?

2. When I price the award, can I skip the LAX-YYZ or I must have this last leg to make everything legal and not exceed the OJ rule?

I'm not sure TSA/TPE counts as an open jaw as it's the same city.

Is this a valid award redemption

FLL-PHX-SJD-PHX-FLL-EWR

I'm looking to book this in F & J. My biggest questions is the FLL-EWR segment.

Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit of a newbie so please bear with me. I'm having trouble trying to book (what I think) is a fairly uncomplicated itinerary, but it's not working on United's website when I try to book into F for the first leg.
LAX-HKG
Stopover for a week.
HKG-HKT.
Hang out for a week.
HKT-LAX.

If I pick the F option for LAX-HKG (Air China) it gives me an error message and won't let me proceed.

If I pick the J option for LAX-HKG (Air China) I can get all the way through, picking J for HKG-HKT (two class plane) and F for HKT-LAX (Air China again). Total miles is 130k.

Is there a way to get into first class on the first leg also? I know that should increase the total to 140k. It is available if I search only that leg.

Thanks in advance.

I got it to price like this; I was then able to find availability and book:
IND-IAD-NRT-OKA(Stop)-ICN-SYD(Dest)-PEK-IAD-IND

I wanted to add a free one-way on the end of this but it won't price if I add a IND-PHL-SAN

Any suggestions on how to get any routing one way to SAN from IND a few months after the rest of the trip?

This actually should work since EWR would be your open jaw. However, if you get pushback from an agent, consider using MIA as a replacement for FLL on the return.

I have successfully gotten United.com to price this out as 2 valid one-way awards for 12,500 each or (25,000 total). I found this for tickets, taxes and fees about $110 per person per ticket. I call it the 7 day Euro City Hopper

Ticket 1 - 3 People
Day One: FRA - ARN (23 hour layover)
Day Two: ARN - CPH (23 hour layover)
Day Three: CPH - SVG - ABZ (the SVG - ABZ maybe not needed)
Day Four: Hang out in SVG
Ticket 2 - 3 People
Day Five: SVG - FRA (23 hour layover)
Day Six: FRA - NCE (23 hour layover)
Day Seven: NCE - MUC - HEL (the MUC - HEL maybe not needed)

It sounds legal (assuming you don't have too many segments). You probably have to call it in. The website has trouble booking multiple destinations and stopovers.

Have you considered flying TG out of HKT? I highly recommend doing HKT-BKK in J connecting to BKK-HKG in F. You get to enjoy F ground services in both HKT and BKK, including escort from check-in to the lounge in HKT and access to the FCL in BKK, which is really not to be missed.

Here's the business class itinerary I'm looking to book before the devaluation...

LAX-TPE-SIN (23h layover)
SIN-NRT (stopover)
NRT-PVG (destination)
PVG-PEK (long layover?)
PEK-MAD (open jaw stop)
LIS-EWR-LAX

Can I still use another open jaw to get a free one-way at the end? Any suggestions for improving my itinerary? I tried getting a long layover at ICN but I couldn't get it to work. LIS wasn't my first choice but it's the only thing I could find with business inventory over the pond in September (minus phantom avail on Lufthansa, of course).

Award flight to Europe routing - what's wrong?

Hey - perhaps someone with some more wisdom can explain to me what's going wrong here.

I'm planning a 60,000 saver flight to Europe this summer hoping to take advantage of a stopover. Essentially I'm going from Halifax, Canada to Tbilisi, Georgia at the outbound, and the return is from Mykonos, Greece to Halifax, Canada with a stopover in Tromsų, Norway.

I've pieced availability together on each leg, but when I try to combine it all, I'm getting the dreaded error on the second flight:

FLIGHT 1: June 19: Halifax, Canada - Tbilisi, Georgia (via YOW, FRA, IST)

I then planned to buy a ticket from Tbilisi to Mykonos, Greece.

FLIGHT 2: June 29: Mykonos, Greece - Tromsų, Norway (via ATH, ARN, OSL)

FLIGHT 3: July 1: Tromsų, Norway - Halifax, Canada (vis OSL, FRA, YOW)

I'm getting an error on Flight 2. What could be wrong? I thought it might be because it was an open-jaw, but if I change Mykonos to Athens, it works.

Is there a problem here? Or is this worth sitting on hold for an hour and trying to get someone competent to help?

Thanks so much

Most likely it's simply that united.com is (to be generous) far from perfect. They may not even have Mykonos in their database. You'll have to call. Let them know it can't be booked online, and they may waive the phone fee.

Mykonos is in the database, and I can even see availability on the date I want for the portion from Mykonos - Tromsų.

I just want to make sure I'm not breaking any rules before I try the phone battle.
