I'm tired of regularly not getting upgraded at t-96 when the flight is R9 or more.

Just experienced something I did not think was possible anymore: a CPU clearing at the window.

EWR-OMA, E70, cleared at 72 hours.

Now to see if I actually end up on the flight. Express to Express connections at EWR seem to result in reroutes more often than not.

Cleared EWR-PVR for the Sunday morning (850 am) non-stop on a 737-900 at the 48-hour mark. My non-status companion also cleared with me. Flight went out with 6 empty F seats.

Cleared on the return PVR-EWR the following Saturday afternoon non-stop at the 24-hour mark. Traveling companion also cleared at same time. This 737-900 went out with 3 empty F seats with a large load in Y.

I've been watching my upcoming LAX-HNL flight this Friday.

There has been R9/RN9 avail every day for the last 3 weeks. Even this morning.

Tonight, it is suddenly R0/RN0 - and seat map unchanged.

Unlikely United sold 9 F seats in 8 hours.

Do they just shut down RN/R space like that and give it to another fare bucket?

There's no transfer necessary, the buckets are nested. R is nested in F. They may have just decided not to permit any of the remaining F seats to go to R.

Another LAX-EWR-LAX trip, another complimentary upgrade to first, even on the A319 from EWR-LAX! My father, traveling with me, cleared at the gate on the LAX-EWR flight and was upgraded with a RPU on the EWR-LAX flight.

I've now cleared my last ten transcons for "free"...

Um, such as the error that occurs when you try to complete an online reservation change. I've gotten that one at least ten times since last March. Have to call to get them to take my change fee.

I haven't read all 33 pages but my experience has been radically improved since April. I am batting 1000 on my last 7 flights from T-96 to moved from my E+ seat on the plane.
Prior to April, my experience was dismal... to the point of contemplating switching (even tho I am out of SFO). My 1K experience has always been dismal out of SFO - maybe I'm getting subconciously smarter at getting on 767s 757s and 737/8s or 9s rather than little Airbii...

It's possible UA quietly fixed something. Or it's possible more HVFs have left for greener pastures. Or some combination.

Nine of out my last ten CPU eligible fights have cleared, which is a big improvement since April 1. Anecdotaly I have noticed many fewer GS boarding first this year which may or may not indicate something but does stand out to me.

This is good news! My upgrade percentage has been excellent, but it's TATL. Where do you fly to?

I'm 1/12 this year on UA, I already took most of my business elsewhere.

The only flight I got upgraded on was an award ticket on a Wednesday night IAH-SAT on a 739. Pretty much every flight I am on has almost no upgrades listed on the cleared list. I am usual near or at the top of the list and F fills up with no upgrades being processed.

Last flight I flew was SAT-DEN 738 and I was on H fare and got wait listed at my window. Plane sat with F empty, an F9 A9 P9 R1 for days, after checking in I was #1 on the upgrade list, and from check in time to boarding time, F seats start filling up, F inventory starts dropping, I stay #1 on the list, and the cleared list eventually shows 1 person on it when I got to the gate. I guess they sold 15 of 16 seats in the final 24 hours.

Same experience on pretty much every flight, though they usually process a few more than 1 upgrade. I am over it.

With UA running borderline shuttle service on EWR - LAX/SFO flights, CPUs were bound to improve when elites aren't competing on the 5-6 flights they used to run.

Four Quarters in a row, my CPU-elegible flights have been a constant 75% upgrade. No improvement for me.
