UA made of course sure that there are no comparably desirable items within reach inside the UC.

Heck, you can't even fit a thermos bottle into those silly fountain machine in the UC.

Nor should you - that's a hygiene violation and anyone using personal bottles to fill water, soda or coffee from the dispensers should be ejected. There are warning signs posted not to do that.

Huh? The bottle does not touch the dispenser. The liquid exits the nozzle and then falls into the bottle, with no backwards flow.

More complicated than that due to aerosols.

If you're not going to require masks in the lounge, there's droplets from people's mouths mixed in with everything else. But I don't expect aerosols to make a big difference in what's coming out of the nozzle, which is pretty well flushed each time it's used.

Is there capability that the UC fountains lack that the water filling stations at some airports (e.g. SFO) possess that allow for those to be used with personal water bottles?

Only on FT can a discussion of scarfing cheese cubes morph into a water bottle hygiene violation, masks and aerosols discussion. Let's return to to-go scarfing of UC snacks.

the photo was never meant to be the evidence, it was meant to establish someone took food.

the point was that this Karen has the audacity to pour out what was left (picture) then ask for a refill so that she could put more in her bag.

sorry there is no video

Try reading the trip report forums on airliners.net. Its human behavior regardless of web site.
