Yes because you want UA to be able to raise prices after purchase.

A non-trivial precedent.

Boy am I a fool. I actually bought the argument from some in this thread that the reason they were fighting UA so hard for these tkts was because of how badly UA has been treating their customers. That this was a form of payback or "karma" & a good number of people stated if UA had not treated them so badly they never woulfd hve taken it as far as the DOT, etc
I actually almost bought that argument which shows what a fool I am
These same people are now screaming DOT, DOT cuz LX HAS CANCELLED THEIR RGN tkts. I wonder how LX has abused these customers this year?
Nothing wrong w trying to get something for nothing but at least admit your just greedy. There is no justification for any of this nonsense

If the airlines could get away with deceptive pricing like they used to, they would but they can't ........oh well, poor airlines
If we (customers) could get away with forcing an airline to honor a mistake giving us a free F tkt to Asia for $0.08' we would but it looks like we can't ........oh well, poor us

Got this today in the morning;
We have completed our review of United’s conduct regarding its recent Frequent Flyer fare sale to Hong Kong from the United States on its website. Our review found that the actual price of the advertised fare was never clearly stated during the booking process, thereby creating ambiguous circumstances in which it could be reasonably interpreted that the actual price of the fare was significantly more than the amount consumers paid at the time they attempted to purchase the fare, e.g., $40 plus 4 frequent flyer miles. Therefore, we are not able to establish that consumers, in fact, paid the full amount of the offered fare at the time of purchase. Accordingly, the evidence does not support a finding that United engaged in an unfair and deceptive practice in violation of the relevant statute. Please note that, regardless of the outcome of our investigation, consumers are free to pursue claims (e.g., a breach of contract claim) against the airline in an appropriate civil court for monetary damages and other remedies particular to their situation.
