IMO the airline should stop its employees from these childish displays. Stop the tulip displays and this ex-con business. It's childish, immature and just sours the whole operation.

I agree that it's childish and immature, but sometimes it helps to allow people to let off some steam.

They can do whatever they like when not wearing uniform, Facebook pages, private reunions, I don't care. But I'm sick and tired of this unprofessional behavior in front of the customers. I've seen plenty of this on both PMUA and PMCO, but - for what it's worth - far more on PMCO, with FAs whinging unashamedly in front of, and in conversation with, passengers about being merged with UA from the day it was announced. If Smšek had had the first clue about how to make this merger work, he would have imposed a zero tolerance policy of such behavior. Don't they teach you anything at Princeton?

I flew EWR-MCO-EWR over the weekend and the pilot on both flights said something like "You are being served by a Continental crew.". The word "former" was not used.
I agree that it seems a bit childish, and I heard laughter (not the gleeful kind, but the sarcastic kind) coming from a few passengers in both instances.
It sort of reminds me of high school and the "our school is better than your school" mentality.
I was a member of CO Onepass since 1987, and I do miss CO, but I am able to move on. I hope they are able to do the same.

2 of my 4 'CO' flights post-merger have included something like this. One called the crew 'legacy Continental'. I sort of laughed -- in the tech world, 'legacy' does not generally carry a favorable connotation. Sort of like I might say that 'SHARES is a legacy system.'

As a former PMCO frequent flyer, I like seeing the former Continental employees taking pride in their previous airline.

As for complaining, the only complaints I have seen in person have been from United ticket/gate agents and flight attendants. "Oh, that's a Continental thing. We don't know how to do that." and "I don't know how to do that, but you should go online and check for yourself." have been common refrains from United people post-merger.

Tribalism or recognition?

I used to see UA FA's and Pilots who were ex-PA would still keep PA tags on their baggage.

I have nothing against this if it's recognition vs. employee group Tribalism.

At EWR last Week saw a Blue tag with the Globe that said Ex-Con - just a simple laminated tag on an FA's roll aboard. Sorry no photo - was going to but he was lost in the shuffle.

Not to further beat an already dead horse - but in everything but name it IS their previous airline. They shouldn't be the one's griping.

Where are the Adults running this company? In the words of Ted Nugent, "It's a Free For All".

I'm guessing that having employee unions involved complicates imposing such a policy (with which I would wholeheartedly agree) as well as enforcing it.

Apparently there's also lapel pins, although I haven't seen any in my PMUA stronghold of SFO.

I wouldn't waste my money on any of these items. What difference does it make. It is what it is.
