Yet another ToD. Friend is flying back to DEN from CLE and had been waitlisted for miles and money upgrade. No status and it wasn't looking promising.

Just texted me to say he bought one for $159. This was originally an L fare..

That's a hefty "TOD" for such a short flight, methinks.

Arrow E+ and First Class for same price

As a silver, tried to checkin for my EWR-ORD flight tomorrow and move up to E+, the OLCI via iPhone app kept on charging me $59 for E+. So I logged on united.com on laptop and did OLCI to move up and same story. While I would never pay for E+ upgrade, I noticed that they were offering First Class also for $59 so decided to take that option. Odd that E+ and First Class are the same price.

For same day I've seen that before, especially to ORD. So much capacity and since most of the seats go to Comp'd upgrades (like me) they'd rather make some money for it. When I booked last week for my flight today I was offered upgrading the RT for $119 on a $250 fare.

MIA-ORD-MSP

I'm a silver and was clearly not going to be upgraded (never have been), upon re-check in on the mobile application I was offered an upgrade from MIA-ORD for $129 (TOD) and ORD-MSP $59 (fare buy up) on my $400 round trip "S" fare ticket. I bought both upgrades.

Really happy to hear this. As a fellow Silver, I will be "re-check"-ing in on mobile, (after I assume an initial desk/laptop check-in?), for my flights to HKG next week. The more I read on FT about low/no status yielding better TOD/Buy-up offers, the more I think I should stop applying my MP number...until at least check-in.

Y fare
HNL-IAH
Had auto check in, however at the kiosk when I dropped my check bag, offered me $545 for UG
Was #1 on UG list utilizing an RPU, only 3 seats left
Cleared as I walked up to the gate, top three names cleared, so looks like no one took the TOD offer

One of the truly inexplicable aspects of this process is how UA decides which flights to offer the cheap buy-ups on, and which ones to restrict to an M upfare (which yours almost certainly was).

Nice score on the instrument upgrade.

IAD-AUS
Fare: T
Had auto check in but got a boarding pass from the kiosk. TOD was $149.
I would have considered it if it weren't a CRJ and they were offering food. It was a 2pm flight so just "refreshments"

UA267 (DEN-SFO), $139, Offered at OLCI, S Fare, Premier Silver.
UA869 (SFO-HKG), $4059, Offered at OLCI, L Fare, Premier Silver. UPDATE: $1,909 offered at bag check.

Declined both.

(Booked 51 out of 52 in BF and I'm #5 on the upgrade list. Ain't gonna happen. But at least I'm in an aisle in Row 45.)

What made it nicer, it was a sCO 772 Intl configuration. Not the "new" Hawaii 2-3-2 barcolounger.
