Don't know if this is normal or not. I have several pre 3/3 reservations booked through the old UA. I have received email notifications that 4 separate segments have cleared GPU and I have been upgraded Y > C. When I log in to select seats, there to greet me is the ominous red warning "A modification has been made to your itinerary. Please contact United Reservations to have your ticket reissued.”

I am able to successfully select my seats, but this has no impact on the presence of the red warning. Even if I log out and log back in, the message remains. Obediently, I call in, sometimes with an hour wait, and the agent successfully removes the warning. Is this normal? Do I need to call in each time I receive an upgrade and have the ticket reissued? Seems like a terrible waste of time and begs for some kind of automation.

Please see the master post at the beginning of this thread. Well known flaw. Easily handled by sending your PNR to UA Insider by PM.

Minor but annoying bug with iPhone App

Flew SNA-SFO-PDX this evening. In SNA my reservation shows in the app and I can check flight status. Land in SFO and the reservation is gone from the app. I have to look up the flight number to check status. Seems like the reservation disappeared once the return trip (this was the return from a previous outbound) flight took off. Seems like the reservation shouldn't disappear until at the earliest when the last leg of the return trip takes off or better after it lands (after all, we all know diversions and other stuff happens). Anyone else see this early deletion of visibility into a reservation?

Star Alliance Award dates (SQ) not amendable

Hi folks, been calling up UA's Singapore office these past few days to change the date of JFK-SIN SQ flight to a day later.

Seems like its not possible, the UA staff explained that pre-integration issued Star Alliance award tickets cannot be reissued due to a system problem. I talked to three staff, they each said it will take a week or more to resolve the problem.

Anyone else has the same problem with amending Star Alliance award tickets? Was wondering if this is a system-wide problem, or something simply affecting SQ.. Hope they get this resolved pronto!

I notice from the website http://hub.united.com/en-us/News/Com...em-update.aspx that they appear to think they have successfully addressed the following areas as of March 11:

Combined MileagePlus and OnePass mileage balances
Improved availability of flight options
Assigned seats in cases where seat assignments were not transferred in the system conversion
Restored our eTicket receipt issuance process
Resolved on-line payment failure issues
Eliminated error messages stating that a reservation needs to be reissued

I wonder if anyone at United has read some of the recent posts on this thread? It's clear that several of these are still an issue.

They also say they are now working on the following non-exhaustive list:

Boarding passes occasionally reflect incorrect boarding groups for Premier members
Delays in crediting flown mileage to MileagePlus accounts
Isolated cases of lower Premier Qualification balances, that can result temporarily in an incorrect Premier level reflected
Intermittent delays with Complimentary Premier Upgrades
Difficulties redeeming electronic and paper certificates online
Difficulties redeeming upgrades online
Flights displaying out of order when viewing itinerary online

I am still giving them until the end of the month. :D

I also had a PNR vanish from the mobile (droid) site while enroute on 3/7.

Problem was my last segment was delayed by several hours yet the PNR must have disappeared around the initially scheduled departure time.

Consequently, I had to do manual searches each time in order to check for flight status info rather than easily reviewing my existing PNR.

I had no problem cancelling an LH award online (it did give a spurious error message, but the miles hit my account a few hours later). Maybe you should just rebook and cancel if your elite status permits you to do this for free?

Thanks, seems I can't refund it online too, points me to call their hotline..

Guess will just have to wait for the system integration folks to look into this!

Flight Status Notification

I just received a text message for my flight this morning and it read, "Continental Alert...".

Last week when I flew, it was "United Alert...".

cbourl Mar 12, 2012 5:02 am

anyone emailing jeff or martin? is it worth it ? I'm about to cancel my upcoming C LH/LX RTW ticket both ways via AP with UA because I'm not sure I'd like to fly United anymore - the worst of the worst was taken from Continental (Sooooooooooooooooo Newark!!!) and remade into the new United

Followup report on case reported to UAInsider (see post #1753)

As reported in post #1753, I have submitted a report to UA Insider by PM about CPU not clearing within window by computer.

To briefly state (see report above in post #1753)...
I am 1K, no CPU within 96 hours with lots of inventory available in First (RN=9)

Here is an update....
the flight in question is #1697 IAH-SAT on March 14...
return is 1161 on March 15.

Within 72 hours, still no upgrade on Flight #1697. Inventory has not changed...still RN=9.
This means no other persons were upgraded. Seat map still shows only 4 First Class seats assigned out of 20. There are plenty of economy seats (32 show on seat map).

For the return on March 15, no change within 96 hour window. First Class still shows all 20 seats available on Seat Map. RN=9....plenty of coach seats (50 show on map.) No change within 72 hour window...same report.

There were no messages from UA about my ticket. The trip was ticketed before the system merge and I got a new confirmation # that automatically went into my Account. I checked with reservations and they show my reservation with the new number and with my MP # on it.

I hope my report to UAInsider will help to solve whatever problems are occurring with upgrades by the computer.

I feel your pain but just one clarification. Recall that RN=9 means there is > or = 9 tickets. It could have dropped from 20 to 9 and still show RN=9 at all stages during that major change.

iPhone App Seat Maps on Exisiting Res

I'm not able to view seat maps for existing reservations (no link to tap). Is that standard, or is this due to waitlisted upgrades?

No more seat change request list?!?

I'm a 1k that's over 6'5, with crap knees....and normally don't worry too much about this feature as I usually wind up in Econ+. But I had to book a last minute flight and the only seats were in Econ.

No worries, I thought, I'll put myself on seat change request list when I get to the airport and they'll bump me to Econ+.

WRONG.

Apparently in the "new" (aka OLD Continental system) they don't have a seat change request list. So I am STUCK in Economy, with no hope whatsoever of changing into an Econ+ seat (unless I sit at the gate agent's desk and hound her to check her seat map every 3 min) for 3+ hours from DEN to IAD. today.

United, I have tolerated all of the crap with this merger up ...until now. I HAVE HAD IT UNITED!

/rant

I cannot believe that some idiot on the Integation Committee decided that the PIECE OF SH** CO system was the right system to adopt. Whoever that person was should be summarily dragged naked by their heels by a mule through a cobblestone and glass street.....and then shot.

This SUCKS!!! .

Another feature we won't like

This has probably been discussed, but I'll weigh in.
One can no longer apply an upgrade instrument to just one leg of a flight online, e.g. I have a short flight that would clear on request, using the instrument but the 5 hour flight would be wait listed. One now has to call to do this.

Thank you CO! This will increase CO/UA costs, hold times and client frustrations.

What are you guys thinking? NOT.
