What if they are not Londoners? Can they pile in? I think we are entitled to know.

No point to do so, it’s a waste of time

Seems a bit of a deja vu moment with the Kent variant in December. London was kept in a low tier for seemingly political reasons despite the data suggesting it should have been in Tier 3 or 4 like most of the rest of the country. By Christmas, London and the South East were ravaged and the disease spread across the rest of the country.

Here, we have a VOC concentrated in 2 boroughs. Why let it spread unchecked?

The issue is even bigger than that. J&J was meant to be our saving grace for under 30s with AZ banned for that group now so this could have a major impact on our programme.

And even worse for Europe. For example in NL the whole strategy for under 60 basically bases on J&J delivering this spring.

Ugh, the sight of the unwashed masses from Herts, Bucks and... Sussex in our pubs! Our pubs! Never!

So when do hotels open in Scotland? I read Covid: Travel ban in Scotland to be eased from Friday - BBC News and it says hotel stays not allowed this friday. So when then? The 26th??

University students are feeling quite left out of the opening. It seems most have returned to "term time accommodations" and those I know are quite anxious to be back to in person learning.

chill! It’s almost the same vaccine as AZ, it will be reviewed a few days then back in action faster than before even CDC said a few days 7 blood clots out of 6,000,000 ppl

AZ is already banned for good for people under 60 in Holland so no chill if J&J gets the same end result. Apprently 10 in a million is already enough to get AZ stopped so.

King's College apparently told its students don't expect anything until Septemebr and even then there will be restrictions. The relationship between govt and unis has always been complicated let's be honest. Govt saying not before May 17 at the moment, really doesn't make sense if shops are open but uni's cant have in person learning.

Well interestingly all cases were in women at a certain age, so allow it for men? Let's see what the CDC/FDA says about it in a few days, the UK hasn't even approved it yet as they were late to ordering it.

St Andrews has a townhall coming (was postponed a week due to the funeral) and parents are fired up. International parents are reluctant to spend 20K+ pounds for tuition for next year and half as much again to living expenses without some commitment that there will be in person learning and a better approach to testing, tracing and quarantine and housing. The living situation and food situation for students in uni housing this year got pretty dire.

Yes I feel terrible. Students were really badly affected despite most not having much chance of being seriously ill from this, their uni lives have been ruined, not to mention the financial cost of it. I would hope at least next year would look normal for them, especially if the government roadmap is accurate.
