Recent experience: I phoned up TK at the 100 day mark on the 1-800 number to get seats for my upcoming flights in November, as per the advice on the thread. Not only did it take only 30 seconds to connect to connect to an agent, but she had no problem assigning me the seats I asked for -- front of the economy cabin, window -- within a few seconds, and adding my meal request to the booking, too.

It's a bit frustrating that the seats don't show up anywhere on the website. But the ones I booked did disappear from EF within seconds of her booking them, so I'm assuming the request went through okay.

Yes, it would be nice to be able to do this online. But with other airlines (i.e. KLM) recently changing to requiring a fee to book ANY seat ahead of time, it's nice that TK still books seats on long-haul int'l flights for free.

question about J seats

I have a question about the J seats on A330-300 vs. 777-300.

According to seatguru, the pitch and width are as follows:

A330-300: 61", 21", 180 degrees of recline, 2-2-2 configuration
777-300: 78", 22", 177 degrees of recline, 2-3-2 configuration

Is seatguru correct? The difference in pitch (61" vs. 78") seems strange to me, since the A330 has considerably less pitch but slightly more recline.

Normally I'd prefer A330 for its 2-2-2 configuration, but apart from that, are the seats basically the same? Do you prefer one over the other?

IMHO Seat Guru is very often NOT correct.

To be honest I do not see any differences between A330 and B777 seats - IMHO they are the same.

I am well aware that seat guru is often out-of-date (especially for airlines with a multitude of aircraft types and configurations, not to mention progressive and often delayed or lengthy modernization/upgrade schedules, e.g. AF), and I can't seem to find the pitch info on TK's new website... hence I posed the question on this board.

From other threads on here, it seems that the J seats are identical or very similar on the A330 and 777, so the dramatic seat pitch difference shown on seat guru must indeed be a mistake. Does anyone know what the pitch is on both aircraft type?

I'm booked YYZ-IST-DAR, and I found out that exit rows are purchased for flights ex-YYZ. However, how should I get the exit row for IST-DAR?

I have pre-selected seats (not bad, windows near the front) for the medium haul flight to DAR. During OLCI, will I have the option to select an exit row? Or do I have to go to the desk at YYZ and ask a GA or check-in agent to switch?

I have a few questions regarding seat selection and availability.

1) I booked my tickets through American Express Travel Agency, how can I see the seats they've selected? Trip Case doesn't show seats for my TK flights.

2) I was checking ExpertFlyer's availability for my flight and it says there's only 1 seat left in business class.. It's a bit strange since my flight is on the first days of january

I would love to know this as well. The TK website talks about the proper flat bed seats as being "only on brand new B777-300 and A330-300 fleets" - does that mean *all* A330-300 aircraft or is there some newer subfleet with the better seats on it?

Specifically, I'm looking at the IST-SIN route next May. For me it's the difference between booking TK or another airline...

*************

Edited to add: I see from elsewhere that all the A330-300s have the proper flat bed seats. I guess now I need to worry about the possibility of one of TK's notorious last-minute aircraft substitutions...

Is it possible for *A Gold (LH SEN) pax to get free seat (exit row) selected in economy on TK flights? I've succesfully been able to arrange it at check-in before, but wanted to know whether this is possible through the hotline as well.

mad_atta Jan 22, 2017 5:31 pm

I just called TK's Sydney office to assign seats for IST-SIN in J in early May. It's currently only a couple of days inside the 100 day seat assignment window, and on Expertflyer seatmap the only seats showing as occupied are what seem to be the default blocked seats on the A333 (1AB, 5DE, 1K). However the competent sounding agent on the phone said absolutely all of the A seats are showing as unavailable.

It's not the end of the world, but I'd really prefer to be in an A seat rather than a K seat on this flight. Any suggestions? Is blocking all the A seats something that has been seen before?

Thanks for any suggestions :)

Business class seat selection

I booked an award ticket on Aeroplan for late May. Do I have to wait 100 days out before I can select seats on their portal?

airoli Feb 6, 2017 2:43 am

No. You will need to wait until 100 days out until you can call TK to assign seats. You will not be able to do it on their website (it can only handle seat assignments as part of the booking flow).

Save the hassle of a phone call and request seat allocation via twitter: @TK_HelpDesk

They usually get back to you same day after a few hours.

Do I just give them the PNR that Aeroplan/AC gave me with the ticket booked with MR?

New website allows you to assign seats as part of the Manage Your Booking process.

The only reply I can give you is anecdotal:

I stopped by a TK airport office last week and asked for window seats on two flights, and was gived 2A and 3A. This was welll within the 100-day window.
