I take route about 4 times a year and this year I have never seen anything but the new airplanes. All the seats are the same, it's a 2-3-2 setup. My personal opinion is that it doesn't matter as long as you sit together. If you don't want a stranger sitting next to you, make sure you get any of the 2 seats on either side.

Flat bed business (180degree) seats from JFK or Newark to Istanbul

Looking for a nonstop or one stop Flat bed (180degree) seat from JFK or Newark to Istanbul. Does anyone know of the current business class seats in this market?

The TK 777 business class seats are fully flat (180 degree) and very comfortable. I fly these as often as I can between JFK and IST. Just make sure it's the Boeing 777 and not the Airbus A340 (I think). The Airbus seats are the ones that are flat, but angled with the feet down and the head up. Not nearly as comfortable as the 777.

There's only 777 to/from JFK, all new lie-flat seat.

TK no longer have any of the 9W 777's.
Seatguru is hopelessly unreliable for non-US airlines

on some days, e.g. from Jan 14th TK003 switches to an A330-300 but that has the same flats seats as the B77W. The A330-300 has 2-2-2 layout compared to 2-3-2 on the B77W. Out of EWR you get UA with fully flat bed seats. I quite like the 2-1-2 layout and love the single seat in the middle. However TK has way better service and for the daytime flight, I enjoy the internet connection.

Flat bed business to IST FROM JFK.

Vivamuci, thanks for that additional information.
I would like to book the TK flight. How do I confirm
Three months in advance which aircraft
And which seat config that I'm going to get?
Do you keep checking the equipment every couple of
Days before departure and expect to change
Your flight as they change the equipment ?
I'm booking for April....
Thanks
Barry

Thanks johhenrik and soy for the advice, much appreciated. I'll refer to the v2 config when making our seat reservations.

I thought it was a little odd to see a 2-3-2 config being used for business class, but will be sure to request the seats at the side of the aircraft.

Cheers!

If Turkish reservation doesn't work, UA from EWR to IST has lie-flat business seats (they call it BusinessFirst).

When you book the flight on TK's website, you can see which aircraft they are using before finalizing the booking. Personally, I have not had TK change the aircraft from one configuration or aircraft to another after I've been ticketed. Maybe others have had this happen?

TK will not send the A330-200 or A340-300 to JFK. So even if you get the A330-300 you have the new seat. The only TK Intercont destination I know of that gets constant last minute swaps is Bangkok.

You will get lie flat seats for sure between NYC and IST. As I said, a big advantage for me is to be able and get work done on the daytime IST > JFK thanks to WiFi.

Any of you flying this route in February? I am on TK26 on Feb 2 (more like the night of Feb 1), and TK27 on Feb 16.

waaaay to early. Until then TK will get some more 777s, so they could even deploy one of those to BKK.
