I'm flying Turkish for the first time next week, out on Sunday 7th LGW-IST-DXB then flying DXB-IST-MLA on Sunday 14th. All in Y unfortunately.

I managed to reserve seats when I booked but the two legs IST-DXB-IST were initially scheduled on an A330-300 and now Turkish.com is showing A330-200 out and 777-300 back when I do a dummy booking.

Presumably this has messed up my seat allocations and I'm one of those people who gets very irritated when I can't sit by the window on a plane! Do Turkish frequently change aircraft types, and if so should I just wait until T-24 to go through OLCI and re-select my seats then? I could try and contact Turkish but I don't want to waste my time if they're going to keep switching the aircraft types around. At the moment the seat plans look pretty empty so I'm hopeful that it won't fill up too much.

On a more general note, is there much difference in Y between the A332/A333/77W?

Further to my last post, I've managed to find out through my corporate travel agent that I've secured 14K on the 773 DXB-IST. I'm on a cheap Y fare (V fare bucket).

Looking at Seatguru, it suggests that this is in the Economy Comfort section. Is that correct, and if so could it be a glitch which will be resolved at check-in? If I make a dummy booking on Turkish Airlines for the same flight, the seatmap displayed shows 3 seats across at Row 14 rather than 2 seats across as per the Seatguru plan.

Looking at booking Business class for autumn next year.

LGW-IST TK1998 (Airbus A321) and then IST-SIN TK54 (Airbus A330).

Can anyone advise what type of seat I will get on both legs? In particular on the IST-SIN I'm particularly after the proper lie flat bed like the pictures.

Yes, that is the seat for the SIN leg. Flights to SIN are operated by A333s. However, the seat for LGW can be anything, so I can not really tell for the moment what you might end up on.

TK has 4 77Ws with a 2 class cabin.. You will most likely have one of these planes....

Does anyone have experience with reserving Bulkhead seats on longhaul flights, like A330 or B777? I know families are often seated there, and SeatGuru mentions the same. If I were to reserve a bulkhead seat months in advance for a flight, what are the odds TK will bump me out of the seat to give to a family? I would hate to be stuck with a non-ideal seat in that case....

By the way, am I correct that there is a video screen in the armrest of all the bulkhead seats on TK longhaul aircraft?

I still have a hard time getting my head around TK's single-aisle aircraft J class cabin configurations:

  • the 737-700s do not have a J cabin.

  • all A319s have 3+3 seating, whereas all 739s are configured 2+2.

  • the A320/A321/738s all come in both 2+2 and 3+3 versions.

  • on certain routes (e.g. AMS-IST) the type of aircraft you will get is completely pot luck, as is the cabin configuration.

Right?

Between the A320, A321 and 738, which fleet has the highest proportion of 2+2 configured aircraft?

Is it only the newer aircraft that have 2+2, and if so, from what year?

Are older aircraft being reconfigured?

Thanks.

bulkhead seats in Y on TK12

Two of us are flying TK 12, JFK-IST, in coach. The Turkish Airlines phone rep assigned us bulkhead seats, assuring me repeatedly that the armrest between the seats lifts up. But SeatGuru says it is fixed, and can't be lifted, which is consistent with every bulkhead seat I've ever known. The rep was mistaken, right? (I actually want the armrest to lift, since I'm traveling with a kid and she'll sleep better that way).

Thanks.

As I read the larger seating thread, this post may be more appropriate for that thread (which is more expansive than its title or the summary suggested to me at first).

Anyone know where I can get an image of plane model 77b? They are using it for TK 34 on my flight next week. And also which one is 33a for TK713? Thanks

Hey, what do you exactly mean by image of 77B? If you search for a normal image of the plane: http://www.planespotters.net/Product...h-Airlines.php

You can check the regs TC-JJU, TC-JJS,TC-JJT,TC-JJR. These are the only 4 two class 77Ws that TK has atm.

33A is an Airbus A332 with 40J and 183Y seats.

First flights on TK this summer
1 TK 80 SFO-IST
2 TK 1635 IST-MUC
Both flights in business. Which configuration planes are we most likely to have (777-300 ER & A321 resp.)? What would be the best seats for 2 people traveling together on both flights?
TIA

For November 2015, I am considering to book

OPO-IST TK1450 A319
IST-MNL TK084 A343

How about the chance to get an A319 with real Business Class seats on that route? And how about the chance that the stone old A340-300 will be replaced by then?
