Two of their 5 daily rotations to London are 777Ws with fully flat bed business cabins. 8 pax even get a upgrade to First since TK does not sell them as First, but prefered to stick to its two class offering when those birds were leased from Jet Airways.

TK1980 11:40 London (LHR) - 17:30 Istanbul (IST)
AND
TK1986 16:10 London (LHR) - 22:00 Istanbul (IST)

In all cases, the seatmap when making the booking is the actual aircraft. It can rarely happen that other aircraft than the 777A (JET AIRCRAFT) is shown when aircraft is swapped for operational reasons.

MAN and BHX get a mix of everything. However, MAN is getting the 737-900 quite frequently compared to other destinations.

I've only looked at her so far, but here's what I'm seeing when I click on the flight details on the search page vs. the seatmaps that are showing up - every flight is different in both instances:
  • TK 721 BOM - IST, showing as 777-300ER in details, seatmap shows a 330-300 (seems to be an actual TK 330, which is odd because this route, whether a 330 or 777 in the past, always seems to be one of the Jet wet-leases)
  • TK 786 IST - TLV - 737-800 (details), A340 (seatmap)
  • TK 795 TLV - IST - A321 (details), 737-800 (seatmap)
  • TK 720 IST - BOM - 777-300ER (details) 330-300 (seatmap - same as 721).

Anyone know if at least the BOM - IST is actually moving to an actual TK-owned aircraft? ITA seems to still show it as 777, operated by 9W for TK. And also if TLV does actually get widebodies?

Also, what happens to existing seat assignments if the planes are different than what shows on the seatmaps? Do they get re-done in a specific way, or do they just drop completely? I'm not even going to bother thinking that selecting 9A in a 330 is going to stick if it changes to a wet-leased 777 where that seat is in business, but one can always hope, can't he.

The Jet birds will stay for at least the end May this year. So you will most likely get the 777A (Jet bird with fully flat beds). There is no Jet A330 in TKs fleet for the moment. Turkish does have own ones which are also flat bed (only the A330-300s).
The TLV sector can be everything depending on the bookings.

Turkish Airways A330-300/777-300

[Mod note: This thread moved from the flame-free Information Desk forum. Thanks for contributing respectful responses.]

Not sure if I should post this here or on TA's mileage forum, but I'll be flying TA's JFK-IST route in economy class with 1 other person. A330-300 to IST and 777-300 to JFK. I've looked a few seat maps and am trying to determine the best seats. I've learned that you can select your seat 100 days ahead of time, but people have experienced issues with this, can anyone confirm? I'm going to try for bulkhead seats but assuming we can't get those any other recommendations?

Check out seatguru.com. Good reviews of all the seats. Make sure the bulkhead doesn't have limited legroom/fixed arm rests.

Since this question is specifically about Turkish, I'll move it to the TK forum where the experts therein can provide further input.

Please note this thread originated in the flame-free Information Desk forum.

I had a problem where I booked the flight 100 days before the flight and I was only able to assign seats for the first trip and not for return and there seemed to be no way to do that online after the 100 days line passed for the return.

I just called TK and said I would like to assign seats x y and z for the return and they reserved them for me on the phone (or atleast seat availability map shows them taken right after call).

I do not know what seats are good for economy but when flying in economy, I always try to select seats as front as possible since service usually starts there. If you have seats at the rear of plane it usually goes like "Would you like to have meat or veg meal?" Meat. We only have veg.

Flying TK 53 NRT-IST on 31 May. At present states 330, but not whether 332 or 333. Does it make a difference in Y and is it worth flying on day NRT-IST which appears to be consistently 77W instead?

It is the A330-200. I can't comment on the comfort difference of the seats but the A330-200 has an older generation seat and also an older generation IFE. The 77W has the advantage of having internet (still free), though that is very slow. Plus on the 77W you can upgrade at a discounted rate to comfort class.

Thanks for the response. I'm in Y (unfortunately). But not sure what will happen to the seat assignments to/from BOM being that they were selected based on the 330 seatmap. Interestingly enough, it looked like the actual TK 330 map (I remember flying on the older wetleased from 9W 330s once). It also seems to me the BOM route has always operated on 9W birds, so that was confusing me, too.

"I m flying TK 727, route KTM-IST, which aircraft, which seat is used?"
Is it the 332 or 333? I believe only the 333 has full flat seats. Is there a full meal service?

We're flying from LHR on the A321 next month but I wish I could change to the 777-300ER which leaves later on in the day, have you had any experience flying the 7:55am flight from LHR to IST?

Tk17 ist-yyz

Try to choose which European city to fly back home after a Transatlantic cruise, (very flexible on post cruise land trip) and find the taxes are the cheapest flying from IST - which is also among our favorite cities.

The route is IST-YYZ-CLT-FLL but we intend to ditch the CLT-FLL part and spend a few days in YYZ with families.

TK17 shows as 777-300 per UA site. I assume this is where the better business class seats are.

Where on TK site I can find the aircraft on this route?
