"We watch the numbers every day and have kiosks in reserve. It's pretty easy for us to put them in. It makes no sense to have long lines," he explained.
Then why don't they put two kiosks in at DEN??? "There are no caps [to membership], and ideally we'd like to get as many frequent travelers as we can. That might encourage more people to sign-up if they had Global Entry in DEN... |
I assume LAX Terminal 7 does NOT have GE?

Just signed up. Hope being self employed for 6 months is not an issue.
Also, can one do an interview at an embassy anywhere, as I am based over seas, and would not get to use GE unless I come back, interview, then leave and return again. Thanks. |

On the other hand, I do believe that you will need to go to a Global Entry office and not an embassy. When you are approved you will be given a fairly short window of time within which you can complete your interview, so this may very well be a problem for you. |
Milepig is correct. You have to schedule your interview thirty (30) days after you are notified that you are conditionally approved. All that you have to do is visit this site for the locations available to interview at:

Does anyone know if the kiosks are coming to CLT anytime soon? They have quite a few international destinations so it'd be nice if that was one of their next locations.

LAX termal 7 DOES have global entry and it is the best thing ever. They have one terminal over near the Diplomat/Aircrew lane.
On a side note -- IAD and Global Entry are made for each other. Could not believe the size of the queue at thanksgiving -- would have most certainly missed my connection had it not been for global entry! |

How do I declare things with GE?
I forget what's on the screen exactly, but I don't remember a spot where it says declare such and such. I'm coming back from France for the first time I have bought more than trinkets overseas since being GE and need to declare the items. So, what do I do? |
I think the question is have you spent over $300 on items if you say yes, you'll get the X and have the opportunity to talk with an Agent directly ... same thing if you respond you have food.

So if I have 6 bottles of wine which I only spent 70 EUR on, I don't need to click that option? What happens when you need to talk to an agent? Do you skip the line? Or you hand in your receipt which I assume has an X on it (right?) and they give you someone to talk with? |

They told me I could cut in line, but was uncomfortable doing that so went after the one guy standing there (if there had been a long line, I'm fairly certain my comfort level would have been such to allow me to cut in sooner ;) ). The immigration officer takes your passport and the white slip and asks you questions - based on that he'll either mark you as okay to exit or that you need to talk with the customs guys on the way out. Similar to if you had gone through the regular immigration process in terms of questions and markings. |
Well, I realize that I have food, but if I only had the wine, and it's under the $300 limit, what would be the right thing to do?
So, you just get to the front of the line, or how do you "skip" if there's a line? Is there a guy around that you can show your CBP sticker to? |

From cbp.gov: One liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages may be included in your exemption if: • You are 21 years old. • It is for your own use or as a gift. • It does not violate the laws of the state in which you arrive. Federal regulations allow you to bring back more than one liter of alcoholic beverage for personal use, but, as with extra tobacco, you will have to pay duty and Internal Revenue Service tax. Cheers, GenevaFlyer |
Okay, thank you for the tips.
Now let's see if they charge me or not for being above the duty free allowance. This is the one area where CBP tends to use discretion. What about skipping the line? Do you know if there's usually a guy around who can direct you? |
