to global entry too?
My GE membership will expire the same day as my Sentri card. The process was extremely easy since it did not require me to go anywhere-- all was done through GOES. Membership in Nexus is also available through the GOES site for current Sentri holders for $50 USD. For $179 you get 5 years of: *Sentri access: “fast-pass” land access to the US when coming from Mexico *Nexus access: “fast-pass” air/land/maritime access to/from Canada *Global Entry: “fast-pass” access to the US when arriving from international location. |

I applied for Global Entry last week through the GOES website and was approved in less than 30 minutes with no extra fee.

Good to know! I'm a NEXUS member who got GlobalEntry membership for free. It's nice to know that I could get SENTRI membership for a discount. |
I am just wondering how GE works for the Dutch citizens that are covered by FLUX? AFAIK the GE kiosks only read US passports or green cards. How do these machines work for the Dutch GE participants? Do they only get a CBP sticker on their passport to get in front of the line, or can they actually use the kiosks?
Does anyone know? |
As far as I understand it they will only have to slide their passport in the machine and it reads the MRZ on there passport.

Does anyone know? 1. The customs receipt that you hand in at customs 2. A departure record to hand in to the airline when you leave the US. The process is quick and it even saves your passport from getting stamped. (On my first try, it was so easy that I stood there for a second with my two pieces of paper and a confused look on my face. The immigration officer looked at me, saw my papers, and said, 'You're all done!'. Brilliant system!) Cheers, GenevaFlyer |
Thanks, GenevaFlyer!
It sounds like the departure record replaces the green Visa Waiver stub that you used to get. Do you still need to enter the first address in the US or has that been eliminated with GE? |

A couple of questions about GE
1. I understand it is good for 5 years. If my passport expires within 5 years, is it transferrable to a new passport without fee or hassle?
2. At the end of the 5-years, is there an opportunity to renew at less than full price? |

I know that a program called INSPASS existed, but was canned in 2002 when INS merged with CBP.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INSPASS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Entry Yes, all you have to do is go to a GE enrollment center or log on to GOES. There is a link that says "Update Documents" in the top left corner that should let you add that info... |
It only started less than 2 years ago so no one has yet reached the renewal stage.
Update on DC: after landing yesterday went to kiosk the noticed that there was a dedicated lane for handing in the receipt!^ The CBP officer said that it was only a recent change and I joked that when I first stated using Global Entry the officers didn't even know what the printout was. He laughed and agreed. This was another step in the right direct of this great program. |

I travel a ton, and often very short trips (MRs), so I'm just as happy to use a kiosk and be on my way without anybody asking me about my trip.
Two of their standard questions are "purpose of your trip?" and "how long were you out of the US?". If the answers were "pleasure" and "2 days", I could see them getting an attitude and giving you lip about it. What has your experience been and how do you handle it? |
I am due to go through IAD for the first time in a few weeks. Are the kiosks easily seen or tucked away?
Thanks |
