I've had GE for a year or tw:p. I don't recall having my photo taken at my GE interview. Then again, all I do recall being asked about at the interview was the reason for my travel to a few countries the officer thought interesting/unusual.

FWIW all of my addresses, both personal and employment were pre-populated when I requested the card. As I stated a couple posts back, I only had to do over the countries visited, work phone numbers, and security questions again. Same with my wife.
I probably shouldn't be concerned about this, but I just went back to look at the status. I see the 'Request Global Entry Card' under 'application type' in the 'Application(s) in Process' section. When I click on that to look at the details of the application I'm taken to a screen that shows 'Trusted Traveler Card Replacement' on the 'Application Submit' confirmation page. I think it must have been an oversight with the way the site was programmed though. I was accepted into the program in May and never received a card. Anyone know how long it takes to get the approval for the card after already being approved for the GOES program? |
Dupe.

Thanks for posting the picture. There is a lack of information on the web about this besides the press release. I applied for the card the other day and will post when they finish processing.
I made another use of GE today (first time at SFO), and it works every time! ^ The CBP agent did check the daily code from the kiosk today. I've never seen them do that at LAX or ORD for me. Another guy at the baggage carousel asked if I applied via AmEx. I told him I applied before AmEx started the reimbursement, but, if he has an eligible card, he should apply. It's worth it every time. |

GOES is not a trusted traveler program. GOES is simply a web application system that you use to apply for various trusted traveler programs, including GlobalEntry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST. I have been a GE for two years and I went into the GOES system to get the GE card. It has been almost two weeks and it still shows pending review. So, my question is...does anyone know how long it takes to go from pending review to approved? |

I was a very early GE member, Joining IIRC July 1 of 2008 and getting nearly instant approval via GOES (I presume my federal clearance level at the time had some thing to do with that but didn't ask that specifically). Also there were only 3 airports and few members. I'm guessing now the larger number of members and applicants is delaying the card approval...? I also noticed via GOES that my expiration date is the expiration date of my US drivers license which is for about 5 and half years after I signed up. I don't remember going over that in the interview either. I was told 5 years from approval. I'll take the extra 5 months though. |

I have been with Global Entry for about 2 years, applied for the card 8 days ago and received approval yesterday. Interestingly, I received a "Conditional Approval" notice inviting me to schedule an appointment (as if I was not already in GE) at the same time as I received the approval notice stating that I would shortly be receiving the card but could start using GE immediately. I am assuming that they are using the same process for the cards as they use for new applicants for GE and don't really expect me to schedule an appointment.

On the GE card questions

What is difference in GE and GE card?
I am sure I am about to show my extreme ignorance....but here goes....:
My wife and I just applied for GE. We have our interview at ATL on Aug 5th. I am reading recent posts about people who are in GE but are applying for the GE card on GOES. What is the difference? What does the card do that general GE membership does not? Do I need to request a card while at the interview? I am confused!! |

More information on the purpose of the card: Global Entry Members In Possession of a Global Entry Card May Utilize NEXUS and SENTRI Lanes Coming Into The United States. Global Entry cards are Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative compliant documents for land and sea travel. Additionally, these cards will be valid for use at the SENTRI and NEXUS lanes coming into the United States. |
