Also if the global entry kiosks are not working do you go to the Crew/diplomats customs officer?
So, if one is not working, try the other one (if any). |

Not sure if this answers your question but I was trying to use one of the GE kiosks at JFK T8 and the arrow-pointer simply did not respond.. my session timed out and the kiosk printed out the "X" slip. I switched kiosks (there were two) and everything worked out fine.

I just landed at IAD from LHR and there were hundreds (or more) of people lined up for passport inspection. I went over to the far left, used the machine and was out in about a minute. I clearly would have missed my connecting flight without GE!
On another note, there were THREE of us using the 4 kiosks at one time. Maybe a record?:D Didn't save any time this time through, though, as our flight was the first arrival of the morning (based on listening to channel 9 during landing the SA flight was about five minutes behind ours, and the DXB and GRU flights were not yet in range). Of course, I've also been on the tail end of that arrival schedule, which is when GE pays for itself... |

Also, what do you mean by every green card holder entering via ORD needs Global Entry? This seems very false. It is very true. I nearly missed my connection after a 90 minute wait in line, and vowed I would have Global Entry the next time I entered via ORD. Good to know that the CBP in ORD is rational again about green card holders. |

When you get an X, you must be processed by immigration first. What you do is is stand off the side of the nearest immigration booth holding your passport and the slip, making sure that the CBP sticker and the slip with the X are both ivisible to the CBP officer. When he is ready, he will wave you to the front of line (you will be processed ahead of diplomats who are in line; not sure about airline crew). Once immigration processes you, you then present you slip and completed custom's declaration to customs. At that point you might be directed to another customs officer to potentially pay duty.

used it and was glad to have it on dxb-iad today. I was the first one through customs on my way out and I wasn't even rushing at all. Global Entry is really a great program and one many will pat themselves on the back for.

I had my interview yesterday at the GE office in MCO. Officers were very friendly (never had a nicer CBP officer) and answered any questions I had. He also mentioned that you fill out the customs declaration on the inbound flight, just in case the machine gives you an X. He also mentioned that you could fill in all of your information and just leave the date off of it, in-case you have trouble in the future with the GE machine...

Does anybody know if a credit check is run as part of the application to Global Entry? and if so, from which bureau?
|
They don't run a credit check on individuals applying for GE. They will only run background checks for Federal/State/Local/International & Agricultural databases...
Don't see why they would want to run a credit check... |
I'm sure there is a lot of stuff knows about me that they really don't need to know but know it because they can.

After spending almost 2 hours in line in MSP last night with 2 rookies processing the entire flight full of foreign nationals, and no citizen line... When the heck are they putting the kiosks in MSP?
|
Went through SFO yesterday when all the flights from Asia were arriving. I was the only one using the kiosk and I was through Immigration in less than 2 minutes. What a wonderful program!

I went through Global Entry at Immigration at IAD for the first time in a while today and was through in no time. When I got to claiming my bag, there was a extremely long line to exit customs due to a few planes arriving close together, but I was thrilled to see that they added a Global Entry line to the left to exit customs and when I entered the line, I was called immediately to the next customs agent. This makes Global Entry even better that simply having the kiosks to speed through immigration and am happy to see that they are continuing to improve the program.

What time of day did you go through IAD? I am going LHR-IAD, and am excited to take advantage of GE... Should one try using a second terminal, before going to the nearest booth? Or should you proceed straight to a CBP officer?
The officer who approved me at MCO was joking around and said that everybody should take some GE program info. to hand out to the people you cut in-front of when you get an X... |
