Do any NEXUS kiosks remain at US preclearance at YVR? Or have they all been replaced with GE?

I ask because I have an 8 and a 10 year old, with NEXUS and iris scans on file. They didn't get fingerprinted for GE because they were too young. I didn't think that they really needed fingerprints since they had the iris scans on file. But if all the NEXUS kiosks are removed, they (and by extension I with them) can't use NEXUS/GE at US preclearance anymore.

You may want to consider going to the Nexus office and asking if they can get your children's fingerprints done so they can use GE. My girls are 11 and 9, and were originally approved for GE without fingerprints (we were told they were too young!). But with fewer nexus machines, and more GE, it would make more sense for them to use GE. The only way to use GE machines is to get fingerprints done! So we went to the Nexus office at YYZ without appointments and asked to confirm if the girls had GE and if they needed fingerprints done. Well the agent was beside himself that the girls were approved and yet they didnt have their fingerprints taken! He said they were definitely old enough! So he immediately set the girls up with GE, they had all their prints taken, and we shall see how it works next month!

This will be especially good because my 9 year old has a really hard time getting her irises scanned at the nexus machines. We usually end up having to line up to talk to a customs agent because she can't get her eyes read!

How hard is it to get a replacement card if it is lost / stolen?

kanayo101 Jun 1, 2013 12:21 pm

A while ago I got scolded for not updating my passport information with Nexus before travelling. They did it in the office at YYZ but told me to do it online next time.

Well I have to update my address, vehicle and drivers license information but I can't find how to do it on GOES. All the FAQs say to log-in and click UPDATE. My home page does not have an update button, except for changing mailing address. I clicked on "Manage Membership" beside the "Trusted Traveller Program" line and it displays my info but does not let me edit it. I have tried and tried but can't figure out how to do it. Help?

Thanks...

It seems dumb but frankly not unsurprising that no one (in the government, not here) seems to know the process--agents are contradicting other agents, the website, and what we FTers have reported our experiences to be.

It'd be nice if they could get this all straightened out so it's not as confusingly contradictory.

As I mentioned in a series of previous posts, I updated my passport both online and at the EWR GE office. The passport was correctly recognized at the GE kiosk in JFK last week.

I haven't had the opportunity to travel into Canada yet, so I don't know if CBSA has the update on their side. My next trip to Canada will be with a non-NEXUS family member, so I will use the regular lane at the border crossing and then stop at the office to see if they have my correct passport details.

They should - I received a new passport 2 years ago (after obtaining NEXUS) and only updated my passport in GOES with no issues using either NEXUS or GE.

Many posts here have suggested that you must pass by nexus office to confirm the data update on the website after you do it online

I think the reason is that GOES is a US system, and the Canadians may not get the updated information via the US. They share information at the intake stage, but not necessarily for updates. At least, that is my mental model, based on the various fragments posted here.

I went to YYZ office to update my driver's license since I couldn't do it on GOES but the Canadian agent told me that it is not necessary?!?!

Should I go back and see if another agent will do the update?

If I'm not mistaken, it only matters if it's an enhanced license. Do let me know though if this isn't the case. My wife's DL was recently renewed (same number, but different expiry obviously). We never went to the NEXUS office.

I'll probably renew my EDL later this month and pop in to the NEXUS office before a flight I have in August to update mine and try to update Mrs. Xero9's

If you have the global entry card, you don't need an appointment. Just go to the Bundespolizei (German Federal Police) enrolment office in Frankfurt in Terminal 1 near concourse A. open from 6:30 to 21:30 every day. If you are a US citizen with a nexus card, you will need to call them first to make an appoint ment and fax them your data so that they can verify with CBP. Here is a link:

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure it's worth it for just one entry point. I don't think I fly to Germany quite often enough.

I went in to the downtown Vancouver enrollment office five months ago with my new (NON-enhanced) DL. I saw CBP first; they spent a minute on their computers updating it. They then directed me to the "Canadian side" so CBSA could update their system. CBSA also spent a minute with it on their computers and then sent me on my way.

Question. Why would somebody pay the additional fee to get an enhanced DL when they already have NEXUS? What's the EDL do that NEXUS doesn't?

They like spending money for no good reason?

There's no reason for an Enhanced DL for those of us that have Nexus. It primarily exists for those who don't want to pay for/can't get/whatever a Nexus card.

I know it's going to sound silly, but I have one for two reasons:
-I don't carry my NEXUS card on me all the time. I have my license at all times.
-I personally find the non-EDL ugly, at least for Ontario. Since they got rid of the mag strip, it's been replaced with a rather large empty spot that only says some stuff about Service Ontario. The EDL has shifted their barcode up there and placed the machine readable code to the bottom.

Silly reasons, I know.

Sorry, duplicate post for some reason..

Another Data Point

Applied: April 5
Conditional Approval: May 9
Interview: June 3
Approval Notification: Jun 4

When I originally checked for interview dates, the closest was in October. Just keep checking every 15 minutes and new ones will open up. I moved up to August to July to June. Closer ones popped up too, but they were too close for me. Unlike some other people here, I didn't receive my approval notification until the next day.
