Wow, I didn't realize it was *that* bad in some other places, especially SFO! I applied 5/24, received conditional approval on 6/12, and was able to immediately schedule my appointment at LAX TBIT on 7/7. I fumbled a few minutes and the early afternoon slot went away quickly, but I was able to book a late afternoon slot. For what it's worth, I showed up about 15 minutes early, and they were able to take me then. It seemed like they were busy, but not too busy to turn walk-ups away. [A snarky statement on government efficiency has been redacted here.]

does anyone have any experience with the BOS enrollment center? Mu buddy got the conditional approval a couple days ago. Appt is set for Nov 15th but since he will be traveling abroad on the 17th, he's hoping to do the appt earlier. Best advice I have him was to check often to see if slots opened before his. People always cancel.
Is BOS ok with walk-ins? One last thing. if he interviews and gets approved. for pre-check purposes, Will he be able to get the Known Traveler Number from the Officer right after approval or does he have to wait for the card? Are GE-privileges active immediately after approval? |

No need to wait for the physical card. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ferrerid=22732 Yes, after final approval which may take from a few minutes to up to a few days. |

As of tonight, both LAX and Long Beach center are fully booked 6 months out. You can't make any appointment unless someone cancels.

And now it's worse. If you select Long Beach it just says "Appointments are Fully Booked". No calendar at all. LAX brings up a calendar, but when you move thru the dates there isn't a single blue date....ever. I went all the way into 2019. That means I can't even book a placeholder to satisfy the 30 day requirement. I'm going to have to book a placeholder at some random location to make sure I satisfy the 30 requirement.

Global Entry Interview-Private Events?
Hi All, so m local global entry is booked out until the end of may (PDX) and the don't talk walk in's, and I've been checking every 10 minutes for days to no avail (I think everyone is). I see a bunch of private events that I can book on the global entry select location. A few of them are conferences or mobile events--and heck I'm willing to sign up for a conference in order to get this interview in far sooner. Anyone figure out which conferences these are? One is UWSEA in November, I don't mind driving to UW if I would qualify for one of those appointments.
If private events don't work, any other ideas/suggestions? Traveling in late November and December so really want to get in before then. Thanks!!:) |

It's a longer drive for you than Seattle, but Blaine, WA (Birch Bay Enrollment Center) is reportedly very easy to schedule at for NEXUS (and presumably also Global Entry); it's even open weekends.

LAX now shows available appointments for most of Jan 2017.
I'm still looking for something sooner at either LAX or LGB. Been constantly refreshing for the past few days. |

Timing for scheduling interview at MIA
Hope this is the right place to post this question.
Husband and I just got conditional approval today. No slots in NYC area for many months, and not convenient for us anyway. Have 2 week cruise out of Miami, returning on 12/11 (Sunday). Flight home is at 5:51 pm UA to EWR. No interview availability pre-cruise, but as of now very open on return date. Currently scheduled both of us at 12 noon just in case any issues with ship arriving late. My question is how to best do this in MIA as we have no familiarity with this airport. Will have 2 carryons and 1 larger bag (it's a 2 wk cruise - no free laundry) plus personal item each. Can check 1 bag each for free on flight home. Will have Priority Pass for lounge access. Don't have TSA Pre. Should we drop off checked bags first, then go for interview, then clear security? Or should we go to interview first, schlepping luggage? Should we change time of interview? Suggestions welcome. Thanks. |

Are GE-privileges active immediately after approval? I just did my interview at Boston and they were running about 5 people ahead of schedule. Scheduled for 7:30pm, arrive at 6:40pm. A CBP guy stuck his head out and just waved me over. In-and-out within 10 minutes. As far as walk-in, the officer said "it depends". They have the discretion to pull up your application and do the interview if they want to, but it's not a locked-in procedure. |
FYI.. for those in the NYC area, as of this post (Oct. 20, 2016) the JFK Global Entry office strangely just opened up a pretty much all of November for appointments, whereas previously the next available date was Jan. 2017. Hope that helps for those who are scheduled months in the future, or happen to have flights @ JFK next month.

I was able to amazingly grab something the week of Thanksgiving and she is off, so that works out. However, it's 7 days before her birthday :( That means she would basically get the absolute minimum amount of time out of her membership (5 years). If we can get something a week later, she'll get almost 6 years.

Long Beach availability wide open online
Tonight, LGB opened up all of Oct and Nov schedule. I hope it's real that wide open and not a computer glitch that would keep me from being interviewed on my new day.

As BOS was backed up 7 months and my wife's membership expired in five months, we drove to New Brunswick as they had hours free at a time on multiple days. Two great fellows without much to do there..we were in and out quickly slowed down by only pleasant conversation. We were told they were aware of BOS scheduling issues and an effort was underway to get Canadian fellows down to BOS to help out clear the backlog. Easy trip up, spent the night in Portland, and back to BOS the next day. Coming back through the border into the US, the border guard said he had had people from even Connecticut and Pennsylvania make the drive up.

Isnt South Burlington a better idea ?

Portland OR with TONS of new availability
Just this evening (as in 10 minutes ago, 11pm Sunday night) Portland OR just opened tons of new availability for appointments in November and December. They were previously booked out until next June, so this is great news for the pacific northwest. Just rescheduled my husband's apt to next week instead of the end of may. :)
FYI when I was there for my interview two weeks ago the officer said they only have one staff member interviewing and only a few hours a day. Looks like they finally added more staff and posted more times (he said this was likely coming). :D |
IAH outside security has interview available almost for all November and December.
I got approved today and was able scheduled the interview for tomorrow. I glanced over at the IAH location inside security where Boarding pass is required, they have some open spots for November and December. |

Overall excellent and very pleasant experience at IAH Terminal E. They will roll call in groups of 4 and they explain to the group how the Machine works and then proceed to the interview. They have about 4-5 officers interviewing and interview only lasts about 5-10 minutes at most. They have the most availability for appointments since most places are fully booked. PS You might get lucky by trying to do an "early" walk in with prior appointment. |
MIA Interview
We live in Tampa. After getting conditional approval I checked wait times for TPA and the appointments were months away.
Decided to connect in MIA enroute to SXM to do our global entry interview. Lots of open appointments. Walked over to their office which was a little hard to locate. Small door on left side across from Lufthansa, Terminal J. We were the only two there and went to different agents. Just a few basic questions and approved. I asked when I'd get email approval. They hit buttons and said you are good. Used GE enroute back to US (CLT). FABULOUS...There was a very long line which we just bypassed. Followed instructions on the machine, showed it to person there and we were done. Since we had no carry-ons there was no need to wait for luggage. Just gave our slip to another person and that was it. Thanks to everyone who helped me figure out how to do this interview, etc. PS They did give us a form to fill out for customs on the plane, but since these questions were on the GE machine, they weren't needed. |

I had no idea these appointments were so hard to get. I received my conditional approval today and the first open date for interview is in May! Since I have nothing better to due i may just show up on Christmas (one would think this would be a day with openings) and see if I can be seen as a walk in at the Nashville location.
|
Up date to my post above. As others have mentioned doing be sure to check back for interview times several times during hours they are open to find an eariler appointment time. I did and it worked. I now have my interview in 2 weeks instead of May :)

Does anyone know the current wait for a Global Entry interview at CLT?
Trying to decide between getting TSA Precheck or Global Entry. I would prefer Global Entry but I heard there can be a wait of months, and I would like to use the TSA Precheck part a few times in the next few months. I also do not travel internationally much, so if the wait is over 4 months, I might just get the precheck.
I am a little annoyed you have to pay the fee to see the interview availability. |
Any idea for DFW airport appt availability - submitted my application on yesterday, waiting for pre-approval now. I'd prefer weekend rather than weekday. But I guess most weekends would be booked.

Is there a way to view interview times while waiting for my conditional approval? I know I can't schedule anything until then, just curious to see what kind of waits I'm facing.

San Francisco
Got approval for my infant today and the first available appontment is in July which is two months after scheduled travel in May.
Is there any way to expedite an appointment or is there any other options in Bay Area? Can I just walk-in? |
