It will have improved if I receive my conditional approval before next Wednesday!

Gah! This is killing me. We are leaving to go out of the country today for a week. I suspect we will be greeted with a conditional approval upon our return next Sunday. I really wanted to know before we left. 7/22 here.

How do you know that the Canadian side has approved the application?

You call them. I did it too. Takes about a week for Canadians to complete it.

Nexus renew applications (me + wife) 7/21/16.
We listed, among others, countries visited in the last 5 years: Russia, Austria, Turkey, Czech Republic, Hungary (all suspect places based on current terror/refugee climate).
Approval with NO RE-INTERVIEW 9/19/16 (I was amazed)!
New card receipt TBD (but current card for wife doesn't expire until December, March for me).

Applied back in July. Approved this week and had my interview this week. Originally couldn't find an interview before November but I looked in the morning around 4AM and scored one same day.

Winning.

Congrats. If this is your first time applying (not a renewal), note that Detroit enrollment center does not have iris scanning. You can get it done across the border in Windsor but not on the same day. The Windsor office requires you to have the NEXUS card in hand to get the scan done. Yes, it's annoying.

I initially scheduled in Detroit for 10/15 then when I found out about this (had to call the Windsor # to confirm), I switched to Fort Erie where both can be done at the same time.
