My wife and I have Global Entry but we only have 2 premium credit cards with GE reimbursement. We recently had a child and we were thinking about doing NEXUS for her since it is free. It looks like the NY border has plenty of appointments, some even next-day. We may just take the 3 hour trip and do a Montreal trip and make it fun. Are we better off doing this instead of getting her GE? Would GE conditional approval be quicker? Is NEXUS conditional approval quicker for infants?

Thank you!

Nexus doesn't appear to be any faster for infants right now

US citizens. Both my husband and I were already NEXUS members before applying for our son. We originally scheduled the interview for 1/22/2020, but other interview times popped up throughout the week. 12/21 was the most convenient time, but we could have easily scheduled it for as early as 12/11 if we had the flexibility to do so.

My wife and I have GE, not Nexus. Do you think if we sign up our infant daughter it will only be a 2 month wait instead of these 8-10 month wait others are seeing?

No idea, I've only dealt with Nexus. I think the same office processes the paperwork for both but I'm not sure. Some people get lucky and get it right away, there's no reason that with 3 of us holding Nexus, an infant US citizen shouldn't have been approved right away.

Location: Cincinnati, USA
Initial Application: September (not posting exact date due to fear of retaliation)

Still waiting. Two weeks ago I called both border patrol agencies.

The Canadian CBP was polite and direct; he definitely sounded frustrated and said something along the lines of "the Americans' story keeps changing. I don't believe a word they're saying." He checked my application and said that the Canadians cleared me in November, which explains why the border agents are so much nicer to me when I cross into Canada.

I called the US CBP and the person could not have been more of a <redacted>. He loudly and tersely told me that due to the shutdown (which was now 13 months ago), they had a huge backlog. I asked him if he could give me a timeline and he tersely said "no." He told me that if I applied in September, I had 4-6 more months of waiting. I think it has less to do with the shutdown and more to do with the fact that most of CBP's funds are going towards <redacted> the Southern border. This is a fee-for-service program, and I wish that <redacted> would treat it that way.

FYI, minor corrections to your post. Canada doesn't have CBP it has CBSA.
CBSA = Canada Border Services Agency
CBP = Customs and Border Patrol

I see my passid when I login, but no conditional approval. Can I use it?

I applied on September 14, 2019 (Canadian Citizen residing in Canada), but no conditional approval yet.
When I login now, I see my Passid, can I use this passid before I get my Nexus?

No, same rule as for Global Entry.

Take a look at this thread: Using KTN/PASSID before Global Entry Final Approval?

My friend is at 219 days and counting. Approximately the same for redress and flag removal as well. No end in sight there but will update for y'all when he finally gets processed.

ok I am glad my wife is not the only one waiting forever for her brand new Nexus. We both applied the morning of July 8th 2019. I got approved on 7/30/19 and wife now waiting 204 days. Did email to see if they have any response other than standard

I called the US side this morning and they told me that the average wait time is 120 days, however my application has been pending 200 days and my kids applications over 200

I finally got my conditional approval just now. I applied June 23, 2019 and conditional approval Jan 27, 2020 so 219 days. I still have no idea why my wife and kids who also applied within a week of my application were conditionally approved in a month.

i emails the like in a previous post for the US side and they got back within the same business day.

they did look at my wife’s application as they reference information from it.
and then they told me that the current wait time is up to six months if not more.
processing times vary by applicant, but on average processing times are up to 6 months or more for Nexus”
so we wait for mid feb the 6 month mark
