Applied for renewal last July/August, was conditionally approved within a few days, but interview required. Had an appointment in October, then December, then March, kept having to move it due to conflicts. I checked last night and an appointment opened up today, so I took it. Appointment took less that 5 minutes, didn't ask any of the standard GE questions, just if the info on my passport and GE account was right and that by drivers license has by current address. He then had me take a new phone and fingerprints. He said he would send the approval notice within a few hours once he heard back about the fingerprints. I got my approval letter within 30 minutes.

That seems a little odd - if your fingerprints aren't good, then you'd have to come back? Or is it confirming you don't show up in a crime database (despite presumably other searches on you)?

Success at last!
Applied: July 7, 2019
Sent inquiry to CBP info center: January 23, 2020 Received "form letter" response (no useful info, boilerplate about delays): January 30, 2020 Approved no interview: February 4, 2020 (211 days) - good till 2025 Received new GE card with updated (2025) expiration: February 10, 2020. Activated same day. It is unclear whether pinging them through the info center helped or not. There were some other approvals recently from those who applied in early July 2019. In any case, updating the wiki and not following this thread anymore :-) (until Mrs. Aerokitty gets to try her luck in April). |

Global Entry - Renewed 1 year before exp, int nixed to gov shutdown, renewal expired?
Hi guys & gals
Wondering if anyone else experienced something similar. My Global Entry was due to expire on Sept 18 2019. I had submitted renewal exactly one year before - Sept 19 2018. I had received conditional approval and had an interview set - but than the gov shutdown happened and it was cancelled. I was not able to schedule an interview (life got in the way) and I now have noticed my Global Entry has expired. It appears they give you 1 year following payment of renewal to complete the process without consideration for things like the government shut down. I was given the option to pay for yet another renewal and did so after endless calls to Global Entry and GBP without luck. That application has a status of pending review and is of application type renewal. A few questions: 1) Is anyone in a similar circumstance - did they have any luck getting an extension or picking up at the conditional approval phase? 2) Is there any hope for a refund of the $100 (I imagine not) 3) It's a bit unclear to me - since my renewal technically expired, are my benefits extended upon my re-renewal? I did notice my last flight did not receive TSA PRE CHECK so I'm assuming I've lost the benefit. TIA - I did do some searching to see if anyone had a similar experience and came up dry. Apologies if this was picked up in another thread. |
The link to CBP is in post #1129

Still pending review for me…for those who haven't seen updates from me before:
I've done the online form submission (last week was the most previous try) as well as called in (about a month ago)… never any useful info, never any change. |

From reading the last couple of pages, it seems that I was perhaps to hasty in renewing. Seems like Sept and October were included in the bad months to renew with backlogs of applications. Sheesh, here I am trying to be early for the first time and it came to back to bite me, lol. If I would have waited til Dec or January to renew, I probably would have been approved already
There have been many theories floated in this thread to explain the discrepancy but from what I recall there haven't been any posted where there wasn't a fairly quick counterexample. It's human nature to try to deduce patterns in random noise, and maybe there is an actual pattern, but I doubt we'll figure it out from self-selected data points posted to an Internet thread. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overfitting (BTW I'm not telling anyone what they can and can't do, speculating is fun :) ) |
My partner applied for renewal on 8/15.
Sent inquiry form in 1/16 We didn’t even receive a form letter answer to inquiry. Sending another form today |

Applied for renewal: Friday, 1/31/20 (about noon)
Conditionally approved: Sunday, 2/2/20 ...Now difficulty is to get two appointments on same date at ATL. Probably we will do enrollment on arrival sometime or stop into enrollment center before crossing Canadian border on summer trip. |

Update on appointments. Initially only appointments available in ATL were in August. CPB must have added slots this week because June appointments times opened up. It is worth repeatedly checking GE website because we saw one early May appointment open up and grabbed that (for spouse). And I saw a convenient February appointment open in CLT and booked it.

Sent inquiry form end of Jan, received "canned" response few days later. No status change since.

Question for the people who have been waiting a long time, are you NY residents?
