I applied for renewal (2nd renewal) on April 24th (my expiration is April of next year). I was conditionally approved at 1:40 AM this morning, but required another interview. This wasn't surprising as it's been nearly 10 years since my initial application and I disclosed travel to Cuba last year. I could select the Zoom interview option but there weren't any appointments available when I checked this morning, nor any in person appointments at nearby locations that I could book for the future (however Guam was wide open 😂).

I was planning to try interview on arrival after my next international trip, but I decided to check the appointments again around 1:00 PM ET. The entire afternoon was available via Zoom (it seems like the agent was Los Angeles based and appointments were added day of during Pacific time business hours). I scheduled a Zoom for 1:30 PM ET, the agent joined the call within 1-2 minutes, and the entire call took about 5 minutes. She asked my authorized reason for traveling to Cuba and approved me instantly. I received an approval letter by 1:45 PM and my status shows as approved in the portal.

I was fully prepared for a longer wait based on many of the data points, so I was pleasantly surprised how quickly this renewal was wrapped up after conditional approval.

My GE expires in January. I have been a member since 2013 and this is my second time renewing. I submitted my renewal application the evening of July 12th and was just notified of renewal today, July 14th, at 5:25 pm. No interview required. However, both of my kids have become GE members since my last renewal and I took both of them to their interviews. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I did X myself once on accident re-entering in Miami in 2018 (answered the question "Did you answer everything truthfully today?" as NO. LOL. Then had to sheepishly explain myself to the CBP agent) and disclosed being on a farm in Iceland in 2021 which led them to sanitize all of our boots before they allowed us back in the country, but no violations or any other issues in the 10 years I have been in the program.

I applied for renewal on Monday, one month after being able to do so and was approved today so only 2 days for me and no need for interview. Was expecting a bit of wait based on this forum.

Turns out his conditional approval came through in January and he overlooked the email. he got an appointment on July 12 and was approved. Set for 5 years.

One year later, was approved without an interview?

After about a year after I applied for my GE renewal, I was finally given the heads-up a few weeks ago that I could make an interview appointment. I chose the Zoom version appointment and set it for August 1. Just now I received a notice that my renewal has been approved - BEFORE the interview. Should I still show up to the Zoom interview? I didn’t receive a notice of its cancellation. I don’t want them to change their mind! Also, anyone know if I should expect a new card (with presumably the old photo)?

If CBP says "yes, you are approved", take yes for their answer. You are approved. If you logon to the TTP website, you should see your interview appointment is no longer listed and it is not possible to schedule an interview appointment. This is because it is not possible to schedule an interview unless you have an application in "conditionally approved" status. Once you're approved, you are done.

Your next step will be to expect a GE card in the mail - usually within two weeks from approval.

My partner had a similar experience. His renewal was conditionally approved with interview required. He scheduled an in-person interview but was able to EoA in May. Renewal was approved within 24 hours and the scheduled interview dropped off his profile.

I submitted my application for renewal last July and it’s still “pending approval”. My GE expired August 2022. Does anyone know how long the extended grace period for the full benefits is? Edited—never mind found the answer!

I thought the extended grace period was one year. I am about one week away from an entire year in "pending review" and wondering what happens now. Good thing I don't have any international trips planned for at least a few more months.

Two years.

From the Global Entry Frequently Asked Questions:

Renewing Global Entry Membership

You become eligible to renew your membership one year prior to program expiration. If you submit a renewal application before your membership expires, you will be able to continue to use benefits up to 24 months after your membership expiration date.

And the How to renew Trusted Traveler Program (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST) membership Knowledge Article:

You become eligible to renew your membership 1 year prior to program expiration. If you submit a renewal application before your membership expires, you will be able to continue to use benefits up to 24 months after your membership expiration date. An interview may be required upon renewal. This will be determined by the vetting center.

Adding a second data point with the exact same dates. Finally got my approval email today, with no interview indicated.

Applied for renewal 7/23; instant conditional approval. Did Zoom interview today, took less than 5 minutes, and had approved status within 3 hours. (I checked daily for the availability of Zoom interviews and there was finally a block of 3 days this week with openings.)
