As I said, there is a club lounge. The room is quite nice.

There is no breakfast, which is a bit disappointing. However, there are two offers per day.

The afternoon tea was special. Once we arrived in the middle of it and there was absolutely nothing left.

Otherwise, the freshly baked pastries and sandwiches were modest.

The offers after 5 p.m. were better, but certainly nothing to write home about.

I stayed at the IC this summer. Since I'm normally more of a Holiday Inn Express person I don't think I should review the hotel but I find these comments very useful when I compare to what my own stay was like.

Intercontinental Ljubljana B Restaurant
In the evening, we ate at the hotel restaurant, B Restaurant. It is located on the top floor and is also very popular with visitors. A taxi driver later told us proudly that she had once eaten there with her husband. The restaurant is very proud they have a plate at Guide Michelin.
It was quite crowded, so I took the photo later.

The restaurant was actually quite nice, but unfortunately there was a jerk sitting a few seats away who was alternately talking on his speakerphone and watching videos with the sound on. Thirty years ago, someone like that would have been thrown out on their ear, and that should still be the case. I wish I had two burly guys I could signal to, and they would take care of the problem. It would be money well spent...
The view wasn't as great as expected; there was a lot of glare, and you mainly looked out onto the hotel opposite. It was interesting to see people reading in bed, packing their things, or doing fitness exercises, but it wasn't that exciting.
The menu.

Our waitress were very friendly. Thats something what stood out.
Bread and beetroot dip (already touched, sorry).

Blue Mango - Crisp salad, apple-caper dressing, bluefin tuna carpaccio, soft rice sheet, mago sorbet droplets

It looked strange and almost unappetizing, but it tasted really good.
Citrus Bloom - Vanilla-compressed pear, lemon-tyme marinated artichoke, fennel & ornge, roasted almond

Also good.
Atlantic - Lobster, linguine, sun-dra-tomato, Monterosso sauces

Solid in a positive way.
Istria and pasta - Fresh Istrian fuzi pasta, black truffle, crumbs, Parmesan foam

Low-fat and healthy is probably something else. But unfortunately delicious.
Ice cream

Not great, not bad. Quite solid.
Poached Pear - Vanilla crumble, almond biscuit, maraschino gel, pear sorbet, vanilla emulsion

The bill.

It was a good meal, everything tasted great. Can be recommended.

I was very happy with it. I had a corner room with a decent view and liked the breakfast. I share your thoughts on the lobby but I didn't spend any more time there than necessary.
In general I also found Ljubljana to be a pleasant town to visit.
I think you stay at higher end hotels more often than me and have a better feel for the quality if it's as expected but like I said I was happy.

. But in the end, I also look at the price. Without the rather expensive seventh night, I would have paid around 300 per night. I often pay several times that amount. You have to take that into account. I wasn't generally dissatisfied either. What annoys me are things like the stupid lighting control, which actually has nothing to do with the price. I also get annoyed when I go to the club especially for afternoon tea, only to find that it's no longer available. I would have been better off staying in the city for some thing to eat.The lobby doesn't really bother me, apart from the crowds. Breakfast comes next, and I was happy with that too.

Surprisingly, breakfast was included for us. First, there was a fairly large buffet.

My highlight was that there were different flavors of ice cream every morning.

There were additional dishes included to order.

You can see what our favorite was.

Ljubljana castle
No, I didn't spend all my time at the Intercontinental. On the first day, Ljubljana was on the agenda, and we started at the castle. There are small museums in the castle. Otherwise, it's just a quite pleasant place.

View from the wall.

Nobility Pricon Cell

There was a lightshow. Well....

Escalator

Museum of Puppetry

Chapel

There castle was used as a prison until 1895 and during WW II.

The location is cool, no question. It's quite surprising there is not left one single starred restaurant in Ljubljana, but at least they have many intersting with a plate.

St. Niclas cathedral Ljubljana
Near the funicular is the St. Nicholas Cathedral located.

The door itself is quite distinctive. It was installed for the visit of Pope John Paul II.

Inside, the frescoes are particularly striking.
