Taking into account ground services I'd definately take QF domestic coach (which isn't the best economy out there but is a kinda like for like comparison) over US domestic F . That's kinda not fair as US domestic F struggles to be a premium Y but I'm assuming this is what the OP is getting at.

I'd take the worst F, simply because you're sure to have a bit more room. Right?
Having said that, I have flown United E+. Is there any F seat that offers less leg room (on a similar aircraft or similar routing)?

I would choose the worst First class seat.... hands down. At a minimum, that means more services with the seat.... drinks at a minimum.

Well, unless there is some unknown airline with some kind of absurdly bad F class, or an airline with some absurd coach, I would go with F.
Drinks, meals don't matter a whole lot to me. What I really need most is a wide seat with tollerable leg room, if not good leg room. I don't need acres of it, but wider than the 17" seats and at least 38" of leg room.

The worst first class would just be a bigger seat, plus perhaps better food and drink service, and first on and off. The best economy class would instead have personal in flight entertainment, although it may also have a good amount of legroom. Which would be preferred depends on whom you ask.

When you add international, there's absolutely no question.

Not necessarily. A couple of years ago, flying LH from FRA to CDG on a A320, first class meant that the middle seat was blocked. Other than that, the seat and pitch were exactly the same as coach.
