I've declined UA domestic upgrades on 752's - 1C & 1D have less legroom than E+. Otherwise I'll sit upfront when ever I can.

Cheers,
Jeff

As far as I'm concerned, the reason to go first/business is the extra room. I couldn't care less about in flight "entertainment" most of which is not entertaining. If I wanted to see a movie, I'd stay home and rent one. So, yeah, I vote for the worst first/business seat over the best economy seat. There is sometimes the same amount of legroom in domestic first and in some of the exit rows BUT there is never the same amount of elbow room.

Poster "gre" gets it right. The shared armrest and the silent battle of the elbows because everyone thinks I, as a small person, should not get my share of the armrest, makes any coach seat pretty miserable, even if there is legroom.

Most of my economy flights the drinks are free.

That is business class, not first.

Economy. Really, would I REALLY be willing to pay $2500 to fly United or US Scareways first (or god forbid, Northwest DC9 first class) cross country rather than pay $750 to fly with jetBlue cross country? Really. I'll take the $1750 savings and get myself a nice hotel room, go to a nice dinner, and get a full body massage after the flight. And I'd still come out ahead.

Just for the record, the "even more legroom" section on jetBlue's A320s have 38" pitch.

Actually, the worst F in the U.S. has 18.5 inches (AA, DL, and HA):

Singapore and British Airways have wider economy seats:

That's before one starts to talk about service . . .

Keep in mind that you are talking about seat cushion width. In an economy seat, the armrest takes up a little of that space, so actual body width is just a tad less. First class seats have a full sized divider between them, so you are getting the full width of the seat cushion as body space, PLUS the additional wider room over the arm rest.

I've flown US F.

I find UA E+ to be more comfortable.

I'll take the best E seat any day over some of the worst F or Cs.
SQ E+ is one of my top preference.

SQ E+ no longer exists (it was only on A345 a/c which are now in all business configuration)

SQ A345 are all business config. No other SQ a/c can do EWR-SIN nonstop.

Those in business class may see it as a positive - the new business class seats, and more of them.

Provided my neighbor isn't a CoS, I value legroom and service in some economy classes much more than some F seats - I'm 6'2" and noted NW's domestic F on the DC-9 for a reason. No power, no IFE - the only thing different between that F and a seat on WN is a free cocktail on NW while WN would give a better snack. When I get my 64"+ pitch on WN, I don't mind that I don't get underseat storage; I can even doze off a bit (for my few remaining flights on the airline).

I'd take the worst F seat. Even if the legroom isn't great, at least I will be one of the first onto the plane so I can get overhead space, and one of the first off the plane. It also never hurts to have your luggage come out first and get dedicated check-in desks.

I get all those benefits with FF status.
