St Lucia

I was stunned to find free wireless at the very small Vigie Airport, Castries, St Lucia, this past weekend.

Ok if this helps:

In India, free BSNL wifi at the Chennai (MAA) and Coimbatore (CJB) airports and at the Radisson Chennai (BSNL too).

Also Garuda lounge in CGK (Jakarta) - free hotspot.

The definitive guide to US airport wifi

Wirelessly posted (My IV to the Net: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I found this site and thought it might be helpful to all those trying to get online while on layovers, delays, etc.

I thought about posting it in Travel Tech but figured it would reach a larger audience here. Hope the information is helpful.

I can’t believe MIA and IAD do not have wifi.
And I have flown through BOS many many times and never knew that their wifi was free.

I guess we can have FTers confirm this information. ;)

Neither did I, and it's my home airport. The link in the second post does not include BOS in its list of airports with free Wi-Fi, either. According to the official Logan Airport site, it's still $7.95 a day. (You have to go to the Services page of the terminal you care about to see that.) Is it free now? Has something changed recently?

I was at BOS about a week and a half ago and it was still $7.95.

Upon reading /. today I saw that this list had been posted from Travelspot.

As has already been mentioned here and then reading some of the /. comments you can see that the "definitive guide" is not very definitive.

Someone made a interesting comment in that it would probably be more useful to create a list of only free (as in beer) wifi spots, like near airline clubs. ;)

DTW
McNamara Terminal
within 20 ft of any NW World club entrance, will have to sit on floor or stand. Limited electrical outlets. May get stared at by TSA/security if using main entrance WorldClub.

In DTW, I have experienced free wi-fi near the gate 18 or gate 68 due to the signal from the NW WC. This is from having sat in the seats at the gate area near the club about a year ago. At the same time, the signal was very poor inside the club when you get closer to the soda fountain area. Are these two signal strengths due to the router being near the front receptionist area? Could someone comment?

Seattle - wifi is free in the food court

The website claims only $$ wifi in SEA, but a couple of weeks ago when I was there, I just 'happened to notice' that in the food court I was able to connect to a generic hotspot and internet flowed freely and well :) My trusty powerbook told me that a few other spots in close-by A gates were internet enabled too (same hotspot).

YAY for internet, as I was in the airport from noon till 11:55pm -- would have been pretty painful otherwise!
