Haha... I love them. I use the toothpaste as my travel toothpaste extra supply. My wife has fallen in love with the nightshades. The earplugs have been useful recently with our excessively loud neighbor. The socks I use in-flight. The mint is nice from time to time. The card board add makes a nice piece of trash. The lotion keeps me soft. The toothbrush is the only part that doesnt get used for me.

Even the bags get used... Wires, ipod stuff, cell phone stuff, laptop connectors and gadgets, the list goes on!

guilty. I have (had) about 40, then my mrs. gave all the zipper bags to my kids school for art supplies. The zipper pouches were much better than the drawstring bag. LH has a velcor pouch that is really nice.
It is a sickness, though I only take my own. I also have an affinity for hotel pens.....

Are you flying C? You get a little (and I mean little) bag stuffed with a pair of socks and eye shades. For everything else you have to scavenage around the cabin, such as lavatories for the toothbrush/paste.

I've never flown SQ F, but there is a kit plus pjs.

Back to topic, is it my luck or the tube of toothpaste in the UA kit is mostly filled with air? In the most recent case, I thought I had enough for an extended weekend trip, but after squeezing out the air I ran out by Saturday evening.

I confess....

I strip out the good "bits" fopr occasional use when flying domerstic, and then consign the remainder to a wicker basket in my bride's studio in which also goes every unused hotel amenity from every hotel in which we stay, including the really fancy kits from the upscale suites we use for "Hospitality".

I further confess that we save and use the prize items, especially in our guest bath (as nice as the Ritz!), but the rest of the basket goes to fill an occasional plastic bag, alternate deliveries to the local shelter for battered/abused women and the shelter for homeless/reunaway teenage girls.

Of course, as a young man, I belonged to a small gang, We saved up nametags and snuck into conventions for food and drink.

I do have moral compunctions. Since I know what they cost, unlike a lot of creeps/cretins I see in action, I will not carry off soft drinks from the coffee break tables to enjoy later, but have been known to sneak away with a cookie or two for late night snacks. Nor do I watch movies and charge them on my expense account, having done so once and gone to sleep - since it was so bad - soon after the movie, nope, not a XXX or even an X, started.

If your life is so barren that you regularly view in room movies and watch DVDs on flights on little screens, you need a bit of self-image enhancement and several upgrades to your socialization quotient. Wait a few months and the movies wiill show up on the premium channels, take up good books or conversation, or look for better saloons.

That's what I get for not showering in the RCC on my last LHR trip. Sounds like a good enough reason to go back.

Thank you for the wake up call. My life is really sad because I watch hotel and airplane TV.

Please tell me how you manage to avoid entertaining yourself in a hotel room when you are on the road, like me, >280/nights per year for each of the last 7 years and you don't have a traditional home. I very excited to have you help me.

Sign me up for Amenity Kits Anonymous as well.
I must have well over 100 of them. And for some silly reason I still collect them. Not just the nice ones you get in BA or AF or SQ, but the so-so ones from CO or KL or AA, and the crappy ones you get in UA C, the ones that aren't even a "kit" so much as a bag. I think it's the equivalent of what VS gives you in Y class. Beyond the sleepmask, there's basically nothing.

That is one of the things that AF does very well and can afford to put kits and water bottles on each seat in J (some people interpret it as laziness but personally I call it efficiency) without worrying too much about people in Y swiping them during boarding. There are always FA's strategically positioned throughout the cabin to prevent this from happening. And God forbid if you trespass cabin, they will hunt you like dogs and escort you out. It happened to me when I dared to use the F bathroom while traveling in J. FA's were sitting in the galley and the only passenger in F was snoring. When I exited the FA was waiting for me. I offered my apologies for the transgression and explained that since both bathrooms in J were occupied (not true, I wanted to compare WC's out of curiosity) this call of nature was of the utmost urgency. She accepted my explanation and escorted me out. I have also been witness to several chasings of Y passengers while sitting in J on other flights.

Yep - C. Thanks for the info - we'll just have to bring our own other bits - Lord knows we have enough! That's surprising, given the praise the rest of the service has been given here. We're on the non-stop LAX-SIN & SIN-LAX.

Prior to the intro of the baggie, I used a UA SFO arrivals pouch (clear, zip) that nicely held my glasses, contact case & solutions. It was a momento of our exit flight from China - PVG-SFO in F (thanks to HDPlayer's company paying for C.)

Does UA throw out unused, unopened amenity kits? That WOULD be a huge waste. Perhaps they should save some money by not throwing out re-usable items rather than by pinching pennies elsewhere (e.g. toothpicks, short-haul pretzels, etc.).

Of course, if they do re-use unused/unopened amenity kits, then perhaps those of you who don't need or use them shouldn't actually take them, so UA can save some money by not having to buy as many amenity kits! @:-) @:-) (I say "you" rather than "us" because I don't get to fly in C/F, so I can't even begin to think about whether or not to take an amenity kit.) This would benefit both UA (saving money on kits) and you (not having to store all those unused/unneeded kits, and perhaps by getting your short-haul pretzels back eventually... maybe ).

I have this problem too! As I don't get to fly premium classes that often, I get them from friends flying them or from friends working for an airline. I love my 2 pijamas: Privatair (LX one not LH) and SQ F!

I usually try not to open them unless I have a double.I recently used almost all La prairie products from the LX F kit.

Loved some stuff I took from the MO in SIN! Not much left there!

How do you people actually save amenity kits? If you are coming into the US, whether they are opened or not, the TSA liquids gestapo will take them away at the security checkpoint, yes?

I used to save these as gifts to friends or emergency stay-over kits as well, but since the idiocy rules came into effect, I've realized I can't any more.

Agree 100%. I liked the old cases - useful for electronics! Last time I was in UA C, I got some purple thing which was useless. I guess they're cheaper...

It's much easier if a hub (point of US entry) is also your final destination.

I have never had a problem getting through security with amenity kits. I guess they should give me trouble, but never even thought about it.

Totally agree that the old C bags were much more useful, but I like the new F kits, since they are good for holding onto documents and stuff.
