This should be relatively easy to script. If only I had enough spare time! :( But maybe someone else does.

By the way, on an unrelated note, is it true that the JetBlue res agents work from home, as ExpertFlyer Voice said?!?

Agents access the airlines reservation-system application and phone system via two dial-up lines to their homes. The dial-up line for the application connects workers to the LAN inside the Salt Lake City data center. PC client software is used to access the system.

To get onto the call center's phone network, agents dial into an Avaya Definity G3 PBX phone switch, running call routing software for queuing and transferring calls to the right agent. The PBX establishes a direct link to the JetBlue agent, who hooks in via software rather than a traditional call-center desk phone set. The software is an Avaya softphone client that runs on Windows PCs and connects to the main office through a modem connection. The agents use a USB headset to talk with customers.

Correct, you have a relationship with company. If you read the fine print in your credit card agreement or mortagae doc, etc. I will state by undertsigning you consent to periodic evalutaion of your credit.

I would agree if these were companies with which I have a relationship through holding a product (credit card, mortgage). But the ones I see are from other credit card and mrotgage companies. This is what they use to send SPAM snail mail soliciting application. I know I never signed anything (even implicitly) with these folks :).

Cheers.

Can someone with a subscription check availability for me?

I plan on subscribing quite soon, but in the interim was hoping that somebody would check on Y award availability for NRT-ORD on either AA or JAL in mid June (the 14th-17th being ideal). An AAgent gave a very quick look and came up empty until the 19th, which is too late. If it doesn't open up, I'm holding my breath on new AA PVK-ORD service and AAward availability.

Thanks,
AQ

AA 154 0 NRT
06/14/2005 06:25PM ORD
06/14/2005 03:55PM 777 DB T7

This is the only date with Y award availability on AA of the four dates you gave above. Shows at least 7 Mileage Saver award seats available.

If it's important to you, why don't you just pay the $5 for the service now instead of 'quite soon' and mooching in the interim?

As an EXP what should I be looking for a few weeks out? (domestic)

I'd like to maximize my chances at a upgrade. I don't see X (even when I search for it separately). What fare codes should I look at? Advice please?

X is only for sticker upgrades from Coach to First and will not show up in the inventory (available or not) until 100 hours prior to departure. There really is no fool-proof way of trying to maximiize your chances. If it is a two-class flight, look at A inventory which is the mileage award and discounted first inventory. If it is still available the closer you get to the 100 hour window, the better the chances will be for an X upgrade. But, this is just a guide and by no means gospel. I just saw the opposite happen on a flight from HNL-ORD where on the day of departure there was plenty of X and no A inventory. Same seats in FC; you could use stickers to upgrade but not miles - go figure.

But if you are taking a business class award, say to AKL (which is what my mother is doing), and the trip is not until Feb, what class should I look at to try to find avaliblity on other flights? The flights she HAS as business show as booked in X class. From what you are saying here, X will NOT show any avaliblity until 100 hours before the flight...what class should I look at to see if there is any avalible business award seats more than 100 hours ahead?

On QF, try "U" class.

But, don't expect to find much - QF is miserly with award seats, this is a highly popular route for demand - and if you begin looking at November you'd still not find many - February, good luck! DO be sure to consider QF's codeshare on FJ (Air Pacific) via NAD (Nadi, Fiji.)

"X" as you are using it here is for American Airlines "domestic" (including Canada, Mexico, Central American and Caribbean) upgraded with 500 mile upgrade "stickers" and does not apply to LAX - AKL, for instance.)

Deleted because I didn't understand the question. Sorry.

joelfreak Jan 11, 2005 4:35 pm

Well, it's an AA award, so its either AA metal or QF metal...unless I am missing something.

I'm starting to think this new tool is a curse.... now that I can check X availability, I am checking it once an hour to "guess" if our upgrades will clear for Saturday morning. :D
