Or book with her new name and make her get a new passport. That's what my husband inconveniently did to me before our honeymoon.

what name is on the ff account?....you could book w/the passport name or, as has been posted here in the past, take along a copy of the marriage docs....it makes sense to get cc,dl,pp, etc to all match.....some couples keep their identities separate, but it looks like y'all need to get her info changed....

Everything should match. So either book in the passport name, or get the passport changed. If there are credit cards and the rest in a name, they should match too in case somebody asks for an ID with the credit card (though that probably won't happen)

US passport can be amended with marriage license. They print the new name on one of the last pages, and bookings after this must match the amendment. There should be no charge for this, so better than a new passport if the current passport is relatively new.

If this is a honeymoon right after the wedding, I would book with old name.

Pretty sure this is what you have to do legally.

She eventually should change her passport. In the meantime, if your trip is soon (within 6 weeks) book with the maiden name and have her use her current passport to substantiate that.

Passports can be amended for free if the passport was issued within a year of the name change. Having the passport amended is also a hassle. I was questioned a lot after I had my passport amended and booked in my married name. I always had to travel with my marriage license too and was pulled for secondary screening quite a bit.

It was quite the relief when my passport was expiring and I needed to renew.

Thanks for all the answers everyone. I sort of posted it in a panic as I was looking at some TATL tickets that said there two left at that price. I called the 1K desk and they confirmed what everyone was saying.

Thanks again, and sorry to clutter up the joint.

You now have to pay for amendment, except in first year. Used to be any time, with amendment printed in back.

+1 to this and the advice to book with her old name. Have fun on your trip!

OP - Worry less about FF and UA and be concerned about entry/departure, hotels abroad. Yes, you it is possible to do this under different names, but extremely ill-advised in many countries. Spend the $, get the amended passport and be done with it.

Why? If the name in the passport matches the name on the ticket - whether it's the old name or the new one - there should be no problem, whether it's on the flight or entering another country or checking into a hotel. There is no legal requirement for married couples to use the same surname (and there are many countries where women don't change their name on marriage, ever), so there is really no pressing need to get the passport amended.

We took off for our honeymoon just a day or so after our wedding..

The registry would not change the names on my wife's documents until after she said yes.. so obviously without anytime to change the documents, we left everything in my wife's maiden name until we got back..

I paid for a new passport when it was up for renewal. It was a little more than a year later when my new husband booked our honeymoon in my married name and I had to pay all over again for another passport. I still have my driver's license in my maiden name (refusing to pay to change that until it's up for renewal) that I can use to travel within the US but I just take my passport for domestic travel as well since my FF accounts have mostly all been changed to my married name. The only "issue" I've had so far is in Italy where the Hilton required our passports as proof of who was staying in the hotel. Afterwards, they refused to credit my HHonors points because my HHonors account is still in my married name. However, they did give us all the Gold benefits from my account while we were at the hotel so apparently the name discrepancy is only an issue for them when awarding the points.
