US passport can be amended with marriage license. They print the new name on one of the last pages, and bookings after this must match the amendment. There should be no charge for this, so better than a new passport if the current passport is relatively new.
You now have to pay for amendment, except in first year. Used to be any time, with amendment printed in back.
