I paid for a new passport when it was up for renewal. It was a little more than a year later when my new husband booked our honeymoon in my married name and I had to pay all over again for another passport. I still have my driver's license in my maiden name (refusing to pay to change that until it's up for renewal) that I can use to travel within the US but I just take my passport for domestic travel as well since my FF accounts have mostly all been changed to my married name. The only "issue" I've had so far is in Italy where the Hilton required our passports as proof of who was staying in the hotel. Afterwards, they refused to credit my HHonors points because my HHonors account is still in my married name. However, they did give us all the Gold benefits from my account while we were at the hotel so apparently the name discrepancy is only an issue for them when awarding the points.
As a principal, I would follow up and get the points.. not classy for the hotel to do that..

They can, but I think they require a fax/scan of the marriage certificate so I just haven't gotten around to it yet (I don't have regular access to a fax machine or scanner). I do plan to follow up, it was a lot of points!

I know what you mean by hassle..
Theres lots to do in a day.. and point collections shouldn't be cumbersome..
