US passport can be amended with marriage license. They print the new name on one of the last pages, and bookings after this must match the amendment. There should be no charge for this, so better than a new passport if the current passport is relatively new.
If this is a honeymoon right after the wedding, I would book with old name.
Passports can be amended for free if the passport was issued within a year of the name change. Having the passport amended is also a hassle. I was questioned a lot after I had my passport amended and booked in my married name. I always had to travel with my marriage license too and was pulled for secondary screening quite a bit.
It was quite the relief when my passport was expiring and I needed to renew.
