Help with routing rules?

In the routing rule description below, do all 3 routings #1, 2 and 3, apply to this fare, or does only routing #1 apply ( BOS-CHI-ANC )

Sorry could not find this detailed elsewhere -- just trying to clarify my understanding of how these are written.

Thanks !!

They're all valid routings. So long as you follow one of those paths, the fare should be applicable (assuming all other conditions are met).

Hi!

Sorry if this is not the appropriate thread, but I need some help with ExpertFlyer...

I am looking at LIS-ZRH flights on 6th of June. Expertflyer tells me - after I selected the UK point of sale - that booking class V is closed, but the Swiss website is happy to offer me seats on that class:

Swiss website:

Mon. 06.06.2011LX 4581 *07:50 LIS - 11:40 ZRH Economy - V
Expert Flyer:

Departing LIS on 06/06/11 0:00 for ZRH
Point of Sale: UK

LX (TP) 4581 0 LIS
06/06/11 7:50 ZRH
06/06/11 11:40 321
M,T,F,Sa
(...) VC (...)
In case it matters, Swiss offered me the fare as a return leg of a ZRH-LIS-ZRH flight going out on the 31st of May. Searching for return flights on Expert Flyer also shows booking class V as closed.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Or do I have to tweak my search in someway?

Edit: This is a code-share flight operated by TP, and I just noticed there is also a V fare on the (original) TP flight with seats available:

TP 920 0 LIS
06/06/11 7:50 ZRH
06/06/11 11:40 321
M,T,F,Sa
(...) V9 (...)
Could this be the problem? At which airline's fare availability should I be looking at when it's a codeshare flight?

Thank you in advance!

Hi anog, welcome to FlyerTalk! It appears that LX is only offering the V class on that flight if it's the return leg if you originate your trip in ZRH. If you do a round trip search for the reverse, LIS->ZRH->LIS where 6/6 is the depart date, you'll see it will only price the flight in K class, which is what is shown as the lowest booking class on the flight with available inventory.

So it would seem that LX is changing the class inventory based on the departure point of the round trip. It has nothing to do with the codeshare as the same thing is happening for LX metal flights as well. Unfortunately this only becomes apparent upon pricing a specific full itinerary.

Edited to add: We even tried to price this flight as a return directly on a GDS and it still wouldn't price the flight in V class. It may be something only available on the LX website.

As I said I did try to see the fare both as a one-way flight and as a return flight, but it appeared as closed either way - from your post now I know why.

Oh well, too bad I can't get that info.

Thanks again for the help!

Either way, think about it and if you have any further ideas about what you think might be valuable, please send us an email and we'll take a look.
Thank you for the suggestion - I will try those services. The thing is, I've come to love expertflyer's alerts. They're simple, straightforward, reliable, and not filled with a bunch of nonsense that I'd guess would accompany any of the free services out there. That's why when planning an upcoming trip my first thought was "gee, wouldn't it be great if expertflyer had this." (In case this is unclear, it is a compliment ).

LX will also return different availability on a GDS based on what is already sold or confirmed on a PNR. So a ZRH-MIL query on its own will return a set of availability that could be different when that query is made when there's already a NYC-ZRH segment, or even an outgoing, non-connecting, MIL-ZRH one, already booked. It's an O&D availability on steroids, in that the existing segment may not necessarily be a marriable one. In my limited experience I have not seen another airline do this.

=== It seems that you have finally removed the validation by point of sale, so we can see now all (public) fares with sales restricted to specific region/ country!!! ===

Appreciated!

Disappearing Fare Codes

I'm brand new to EF, and so far am finding it wonderfully easy to use and understand. However, I've run into a mystery of disappearing fare codes.

I have an alert set for a particular fare code (in this case L on DL). Three times in the past 24 hours I've gotten the email alert and within seconds tried to book the fare on Delta only to find no availability. I'm keeping the routing template open on Delta at all times to try to snare this fare, but it's just not working.

If it makes a difference, the emails have all come in about 2 minutes before the hour, I'm guessing when EF does the sweep.

After I fail in attempting to book, I do refresh the alert on EF and do a quick check, only to be shown that indeed there is 0 availability.

Any hints on what I could do differently or what may be going on here?

Assuming that there are no married segment logic issues (ie: the flight you are monitoring is not paired with a connecting flight). It would seem that the inventory is being allocated as fast as it is made available. You should also confirm that there is a valid L fare to use as well.

If you need further help, please email us the date/flight/city pair in question.

The problem is married segment logic, the results are different when you pair the flight you have the Flight Alert set for with other flights.

Interesting, especially since both segments show L availability when viewed individually. I wouldn't have thought this would have been a married segment issue.

Thank you for responding here, and via email, so quickly. I eagerly look forward to you updating the functionality to allow for married segment logic.

That's the point, regardless of what is shown for each flight individually, it's what is shown when you put them together that counts.

You're welcome, please email us if you have any other questions.
