Yup. I have the same problem with it.

I guess I'll test out FlightView and hope they make some good changes. Anyone know how to go from the free app to the ad free version on an iPhone?

If you downloaded FlightView Free, I don't believe that there is an in-app purchase to remove the ads. You have to download the standard FlightView app ($0.99, I think). The FlightView Elite version for $3.99 add a flight board feature.

I went with the ad-free version and use it to find out more in-depth information that Flight+ doesn't provide, but I find that FlightView's notifications are nowhere near as good on an iPhone.

What in-depth information is that? I have the free version right now, I don't see much more...or do I need to buy up for more features?

I guess details was a misnomer. The ad-free version doesn't add anything versus the free one except for the removal of ads. What I meant is that there is different information shown on the flight search page that I need to click to find on Flight+. FV also shows the incoming flight information, which Flight+ doesn't.

FlightStats shows much more detailed information but I hate the ads in it.

flight+ has arrival info, pick the airport button at bottom, select airport then arrivals

Thanks, yes, it has a flight board like feature. What I meant, and didn't write correctly, was that for any given flight, FlightView also shows you where the incoming aircraft is coming from and what it's departure/arrival derails are.

FWIW, I checked out Flight+ to see how it measures up to FlightView. I found it cumbersome as I needed to fill in a lot of information just to get to the flight. With FV, I forward my trip info to the FV address and it populates my trip automatically. I also like the fact that FV has an iPhone widget that displays rudimentary flight information at the Notifications/Widget level. For the record--none of the apps capture all of the features of FlightTracker, but that's why we have this thread now....

UPDATE: Most likely my mistake, but the widget is there. I was looking for "FlightView" but it's actually called "My Next Trip from FlightView". As Homer would say, "Doh!"

FV oddity

I upgraded to FV Elite to get rid of the ads and got a bonus--it also got rid of the iPhone widget!!! Fail! I'm awaiting a response from FV support.

Is Flightview a US-centric app?

Hi, like most of you, I'm unhappy at the loss of the Flight Tracker and Flight Board apps.

Just looking for other ones, I note that the Flightview one appears to be only available through the US app store.

Does this mean the app is pretty much US-centric (as in mainly concentrating on US airlines and routes rather than worldwide)?

Is there any app that has Tripit integration? I've been using Tripit for many years and I like its integration with Concur. I know it has a $49/year pro option to have real time flight alerts, but it is not worth the price imo.

WorldMate has real time flight alerts for $10 a year, but it is quite an adjustment from tripit and I lost all my historical travel records.

Just a heads up, Flight+ just rebranded itself as "The Flight Tracker" - with a logo almost identical to what FlightTrack used to have. App still looks the same and functions the same as Flight+, still not close enough to what FlightTrack was.
