[Awardtravelr] Search for *A/ST/OW awards online for free UPDATE: OW not working

Awardfinder (http://awardfinder.juny4ng.com) passed 90,000 searches this week and what better way to celebrate the milestone by launching a new and improved version (as promised )

Awardtravelr is currently in beta and can be accessed from http://www.awardtravelr.com. Do provide your feedback! Do note that the site works best in Chrome/Firefox!

Features
  • *A Search (ANA, United, Aeroplan)
  • Skyteam Search (AF)
  • Oneworld Search (BA)
  • Advanced filtering
  • Improved performance! We now have multiple servers crunching the searches
  • Improved UI

Upcoming Features
  • More providers! Delta for ST and AA for OW.
  • Saved Searches
  • Scheduled searches
  • Mobile version
  • More providers for OW and ST searches.

I hope you guys find this useful. I've learnt alot from FT and it's a wonderful feeling being able to contribute back to the community. Do post your comments/improvements on the thread or feel free to use the Feedback link on the site!

Announcements
  • Oneworld search is currently disabled since BA is currently down.

Oneworld search is now up.

Select "Oneworld" on the main page or on the search page.

Color coded availability is up. Also, we squashed several bugs relating to availability were squashed today. Results should be as accurate as they should be!

Pushed out a bunch of performance updates today as well as UI improvements. Results are shown in real-time as they are sent in. Also, a 6 day search on *A (which searches ANA/UA/Aeroplan) completes in less than 45 seconds!

This tool is awesome! I have been attempting to find a coach ticket for a friend from the US to Europe. It takes 3 segments. I've had no success on united.com; in fact, have been checking it near daily for over a month. I ran the search yesterday using Awardtravelr, and found roughly 8 alternatives for the 3 desired days of travel. I just called United Rez. Their system did not find the routing that came up on awardtravelr. However when I fed the agent the individual flights, every flight was available. My friend will be very happy.

Question: When I click "sort" and "duration", nothing happens (irrespective of which I click first). What should I be doing?

Thanks for the feedback! Glad that the tool helped. "sort" is actually not a button - but now that you mentioned it, it does look kinda like a button and it's actually clickable (even though it should not be).

To sort the results, just click on the particular dimension you want to sort it by, be it Takeoff, landing, duration or stops. Takeoff is basically the takeoff time, landing is the landing time, duration is the length of the itinerary and stops is the number of stops it makes.

This shows sorted by take-off time from earliest to latest.

Click on "take-off" again and it now shows take-off time from latest to earliest. Same goes for other buttons.

We released some UI changes today based on comments received. Make sure you press refresh a couple of times!

We now show each flight's class availability on the flight number itself without the need to expand the "show details" panel below. Enjoy.

Hi,

Thanks for the hard work! It's a wonderful tool that has helped me book plenty of flights.

Quick question: Why is it that in the new version we cannot search beyond 7 days forward? Is it possible to increase the search range?

We're looking to increase it in the near future. The stress on the server is pretty high for large searches, so we're currently still load testing. What do you think is a good number for days forward?

Understandably. Hmm well I normally like to run searches up to a month because my travel dates are quite flexible so doing that actually allows me to gauge availability at one shot without having to search multiple dates!

That's one of the reason why I use and prefer award finder over award nexus and flisea.com actually - because those two only allow a limited search date (nexus obviously is only free until a certain point)...

Great tool, and the price is right.

One little nitpicky thing: you should change "Don't Matter" to "Doesn't Matter" in the "No. of Layovers" drop-down menu. Would be a little more professional.

Thumbs up

Ran tool on several browsers. This is not a criticism just personal observations as applications function differently on the various browsers and this appears to be in the initial development stage.

Google Chrome 18.0.1025.151: Application seems to be optimal in this browser. All options appear to be correctly presented and function as expected. Very quick loading of information. "Passenger Number" has scroll wheel and "Multiples Days" scroll wheel has + and - as an option on the "Search" page. "From"and "To" show complete airport information when entering 3 letter codes. Sorting is very fast, almost instantaneous.

MS IE9: "From" and "To" do not show full airport information when airport codes are entered. "Multiple Days" can only set to days ahead . Processing is very slow. On initial activation of "Search",the next screen does not appear to be actually searching. Reloading then activates the "Search".
For the "Sort" options there is not a graphical indication that anything is actually happening. Processing of the various options is extremely slow, in fact at times locks up the browser.

FireFox 11.0: Again, "From" and "To" do not show full airport information when airport codes are entered. "Multiple Days" can only set to only days ahead.
On"Search" the processing bar is shown and processing is very fast. If I attempted to compare to Chrome it would be subjective so I will not.
On presentation of the "Search" results, the multiple pages information is over written in the flight information line(Flight, Date, From-To,Duration). I waited 5 minutes but none of the "Sort" options appeared to function in this browser.

I think this is a great tool. The graphical user interface is excellent being clear in function and easy to use especially when used in the Chrome browser. As it now the functionality and layout is better and more professional than I have seen in several business oriented sites.

Laptop Information; OS Win7 Home Premium, iCore7, 8GB ram,1GB dedicated graphical memory, Internet at 15MPS.

Thanks for your effort,

.

Not a good first experience

I'm searching for 2 F seats on BA, PHX-LHR on 9/9/12.

This tool shows available 2 seats in F; 2 seats in J.

I was excited, as BA.com shows no availability.

So I checked Award Nexus -- no availability.

So I called BA -- no availability.

First day that BA shows availability is 9/13, which is what I can see on ba.com and was confirmed by the agent.

I will look into this. We're getting our information from BA - so this is weird. Rest assured that accuracy is our highest priority.
