Searches currently not working:
- Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
- Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS
To search AA upgrades:
- Use the Award & Upgrade tool
- Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
- To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

Exactly. You didn't make it clear what airlines flights had the issue, but if you are referring to HA, as noted in the Award search, the award classes for HA are:
First - Flex Award/Upgrade (P)
Coach - Flex Award (R)
Coach - Partner Awards (T)
Coach - Saver Award (E)
Coach - SuperSaver Award (Inter-island/Int'l) (U)
Hawaiian is known for withholding First award inventory from partners. So the P award class is not reflective of partner award inventory. HA doesn't share their First partner award inventory, only for Coach (T class).

Thanks! That answers the question exactly. Bummer though... I was hoping all of those open HA seats could be booked. HA is doing something strange for sure though, as I know those seats were open the day before. In fact, when I searched, about 1/2 of the month had flights. Then the next day, it dwindled to only 4 days despite HA still showing them available via EF.

Please note that if you are using AA miles to book an HA flight award in first/biz class you need HA's D inventory used for partners like AA or DL which is not viewable on EF, domestic or int'l. The P inventory viewable on EF is for when Hawaiian Miles are used.
Added: just saw a post by EFV in the other EF thread that they just added HA D class to Awards & Upgrades tool. Nice!

Signed up for a trial based on recommendations from UA forum, was looking for an award business saver and ANA was showing availability, but EF and United.com were not.
Checked the schedule on EF - it shows the flight - LO2 ORD-WAW, but trying to get any class of award - nothing shows up?
Any idea why?
Was able to call United and book the flight through an agent...

Newbie EF user wanting some general information, and thanking you in advance:
In looking for award seats on a non-UA *A affiliate (where I have UA miles), should I search for inventory on the specific affiliate, on UA, or on the *A option?
Also, when I create an alert, should it be for the affiliate, UA, or *A option?
Thanks.

Thanks. If I do an alert for "Star Alliance," will it trigger for any alliance partner that has an award seat that opens up and flies the desired route?"

Since we are talking about alerts... Do I understand correctly, that if I am looking for a 2 stop itinerary with 2-3 options for those 2 stops, I just create a large number of alerts for each possible flight?
I understand, that I should concentrate on trans-atlantic availability, but still, I have options of connecting through VIE or FRA or DUS or MUC in Europe and ORD, EWR and IAD in US.
And what about LOT availability, any idea on that?

It appears LOT is not properly publishing their award availability thru the GDS systems, we will look into it.

The fare classes aren't published with a fare type, the fare tariffs may not be tied to a particular fare package. Either way, the details of the fare will be listed in the Fare Rules of the fare.

Seat Alerts are for physical seats on the plane, they have nothing to do with fares. If you are referring to a Flight Alert, then you set the alert for the desired fare class. Westjet doesn't make it obvious which fare classes are for which fare types, however a phone call to ask would probably tell you.
