We'd have to get a lot more specifics to compare, but the Windows kernel has all sort of protection from applications messing with it.

On the topic of MBA and software, have you done the software update which is supposed to help with the MBA and overheating?
My seller commented on the update last week but I've yet to install it.
My use is very light, so haven't taxed the MBA at all so far.

My point is why couldn't the MBA protect itself from Parallels? Why couldn't the hardware fault when it was requested to do whatever it did to overheat and cause kernel problems?

Couldn't face another trip with the T61
I did the deed today. I'm heading out on another 3 week trip to China and simply could face lugging the T61 everywhere. It's just so huge compared to the T42 I used to travel with. I'm sure I could have begged, cajoled or otherwise squirmed my way into a x300 in a couple of months, but I couldn't resist getting an MBA, TODAY
I'll be loading everything up over the next couple of days, getting connected to VPN's and setting up corporate applications. If everything works, then I've just lost 3-4 kgs.
It'll be a side benefit if it attracts the young men over to me while I'm browsing the web, sipping a coffee.

Love it.
If traveling with it - can I recommend the following product:
Invisibleshield
I don't own stock or work at Invisible or get anything from this promotion.
The air is so beautiful that it was just a nightmare every time I had to put it on a plastic container at the xray machine at the airport. But the shield is awesome keeps the scratches off it. Also it gives you a better grip on the air.

My MBA Died in its Sleep
I'm not happy. It had a hard time waking from a sleep a week or two ago but this time I'm outa luck.
I've tried ctr-opt-P-R restart but I only get the startup chime but never the HD cutting in. Instead, the ? Folder.
Any suggestions?

you'll need to boot off of a dvd or external hard drive and try to repair any corruption and hope that it fixes it. more than likely, you'll need to reinstall the system.

a blinking ? means it can't find a bootable system. apparently, the one that's installed has been corrupted somehow, and it can no longer boot from it.

Sadly my beloved MacBook Air was ripped away from my hands today. Kidnapped right from under me. It unfortunately developed a malfunctioning trackpad clickbar. It is now in for repairs for the next 5-7 business days. I'm a bit annoyed, but it is a first generation model. I guess problems are bound to happen. Typing on my iBook right now seems so archaic.

Was tempted by an MBA, got one of these instead... Local compusa was going out of business, picked it up for 600 bucks...
Was at the Stanford shopping center, and checked out the MBA... It's nice, but definately is a niche product for the frequently traveling sort, Apple excels in design, and the LED screen was a nice taste of the future.

I moved into the MBA over the last couple of days and I am, as of this moment, traveling with it for the first time. So far, I'm very impressed with it; performance is ok and I've still got ~25GB available after setting up apps and moving work files across.
I'm sitting in the QF First lounge in MEL, enjoying a nice meal and using the free wireless. It's so civilsed
Hopefully the next 3 weeks on the road only reenforce my positive first impressions.

Since mine died in its sleep and could not find the REmote Disk of the nearby MBP it is in for a service, hopefully it is just a System Restore.
My local DJs has lots while nearby retailers have none, so I know where to go to buy one.
It would be much easier if there was an Apple Store in Sydney.

I'd called around to DJ, NextByte and a few other local resellers and absolutely nobody had any MBAs in stock other than JB.
