you'll need to boot off of a dvd or external hard drive and try to repair any corruption and hope that it fixes it. more than likely, you'll need to reinstall the system.
Surely the BIOS sees the built-in optical drive as a bootable device. Just plop the OS disc in the drive and...Oh, right.
