I too will likely make my Iphone a hand-me-down when the 3G version comes out. But I dearly hope for 3 things.

1. It actually works well
2. The battery doesn't drain too much when using 3G data
3. Zibri comes through for us. ;)

My current phone is FUBAR so I may actually get a 3G iPhone, its faults/limitations notwithstanding.

Are there lines anywhere here in the US? I seem to recall lines started days in advance of the first iPhone.

I heard on KCBS this morning that there are lines at the Apple store in Palo Alto.

From Barron's.

I'm going to drive by the local AT&T place in the morning. If there is a line, I'll just keep heading on to work.

I'll be sad enough to queue up for an hour or so outside the local phone shop (an O2 shop)

Got real work in the morning though - although I am looking forward to a usable internet browser on a mobile phone....

I just went past my local AT&T store. They were closed but employees were busy running around. No line at 9:30 Pacific Time.

I just went by one (AT&T store) after it closed and there are a couple of geeks camped out. :)

Bah

Tried to get one at 0900 in the Warphone Carhouse in my sleepy corner of SW London. Couldn't envisage queues for a phone, not in Wimbledon.

Got that wrong. Forty people in the queue for 16 8GBs and 3 16GBs. I immediately retired home for a coffee, a soothing cigarette and a review of the days papers.

I have one from the O2 shop (a sizeable queue at 7am in the moring at Birmingham City Centre)

Unboxing p0rn at http://www.photoblog.com/kevincm/200...m-a-sheep.html

Initial impressions - nice in the hand, but it gets grubby quickly!!!

Toward the sharperend of the dateline: Aussie supergeek...10hrs mid winter;

'Super geek' first to buy iPhone
Brett Howell has crowned himself Australia's "super geek" - the first person in the country to get his hands on Apple's long-awaited iPhone 3G.

The wait is over a for a few hundred hardy souls, who camped outside Optus's Sydney store on a cold and windy winter night to get the phone at midnight (AEST).

Optus held a launch party before opening its doors, treating the hundreds queuing up for the multi-functional device to free pizza, coffee, massages and entertainment as the clock inched toward 12am.

And the man at the head of the line was Brett Howell, a 36-year-old business analyst from Sydney.

Mr Howell began queuing outside Optus's George Street store at 1.15pm (AEST), and said he was surprised to be the only person camped outside the store.

The Telefónica store near me was sold out when they opened the doors. They had three. THREE.

:furious:

I'll be getting mine next month when I'm eligible to upgrade my corporate-paid phone. Amazingly, when I go through the pricing pages, it looks like I am getting corporate discounts applied for both the voice and data plans. In any case, the data plan is $10/mo cheaper than the GoodLink plan I have to have now, so I'd be favorable. The 16GB phone is actually selling cheaper than the Treo750 on our plan, even. That's a no-brainer. :)

quick FYI

Quick FYI to anyone with a 1.0 trying to upgrade to 2.0

There seems to be some problem this AM with the updater. I myself, am in the bricked mode. Won't authenticate again and the phone is currently useless.

So, I would hold off on UPGRADING the SW to 2.0 just yet
