Not really that bad when you consider I'm still using the ONE that I applied back in JULY. :D

Good to hear. I had a feeling that they will last quite a while under normal usage.

Am waiting for Apple to come out with a corporate version of the iPhone, one that can sync with MS Outlook servers, don't know if there is a software out there that can sync the iPhone with Outlook servers

iPhone SDK is due in February but Engadget is reporting that ther emay be some select seeding going on already.

You would think there would be someone interested in providing syncing with Outlook and Exchange.

Who knows, maybe RIMM will provide a port of their client, like they've done on Symbian?

Apple stock was up over 3% today and part of the reason may have been an SG Cowan analyst citing data that the iPhone was already responsible for more mobile Internet traffic than Windows Mobile.

Well, also that the itouch product was double what was expected, party due to sales, and the margin on those products is higher than anything. Increasing markins on iphone as well.

I saw those statistics and am not sure why it's seen as real "sales numbers". WM users (like Sidekick and Blackberry users) focus mainly on email. I rarely browse the web on my WM device, and didn't do that much on my Blackberry either. But I guess that with a lack of new products or other news from Cupertino most investors will take what they can...

And also the release of the iPhone in markets in Europe. It appears to be doing well there too.

I guess the idea is if mobile browsing takes off, and iPhone offers the best mobile browsing experience, sales would follow.

Maybe a lot of Blackberry users will want good browsing as well as corporate email and if iPhone gets that as well (maybe through a third party after the SDK is release) then there's more potential share gains there.

In other news, German and French telecom partners are reporting a rather high percentage of unlocked sales. But people are questioning Apple's strategy of limited distribution through exclusive partners:

Is a company in trouble when it loses control of it's product name? The is no "iTouch". It is "iPod Touch".

Bcause it's expensive and "the experience" sucks. On the iPhone, it's effortless to do, it looks great, and it's "free", since unlimited data is part of the plan.

It's that way with a lot of the iPhone's features. Other phone may have had them, but people didn't USE them because is was a PITA. And/or expensive.

I had forgotten about that. I was that way when I first got mine. But I think it's better since I have one of those Crystal Film screen protectors. I still have to wipe it on my shirt from time to time. But I don't really notice the smudges near as much.

AT&T is very happy

Well a lot of posts here in the past questioned AT&T's strategy, but here are the numbers for the end of 2007.

The largest U.S. wireless operator reported strong subscriber and revenue growth in fourth quarter 2007. Wireless revenues totaled $11.4 billion, up 16.3 percent over the year-ago quarter. Service revenues were $10.2 billion.

Growth: AT&T added 2.7 million net wireless subscribers (a US record), up 13.5 percent from fourth quarter 2006. In addition, gross adds totaled 6 million, up 9.6 percent from the year-earlier fourth quarter. At year-end AT&T's total wireless subscriber base was 70.1 million.

ARPU: ARPU was up 2 percent to $50.28. AT&T said this was the sixth consecutive quarter that it has reported ARPU growth.

Data: Data revenues increased 57.5 percent over the year-ago quarter. The total data revenue is now $2 billion, up from $1.3 billion a year ago. Data now accounts for $12 of postpaid ARPU and it makes up 19.9 percent of AT&T's total wireless service revenue. During the quarter, AT&T customers sent 496 million MMS and 32 billion text messages.

iPhone: At year-end AT&T had 2 million iPhone customers on its network and 40 percent of those customers were new to AT&T. In December, the company doubled its iPhone sales as compared to sales in October and November.
