Got that as a small gift overseas @HKG recently, was available on Amazon but possibly discontinued, similar ones rated at 10,000 mah from Allpowers are on eBay & not pricey. Rated for 5V output @1amp, very slim @about 5 oz. - won't go (fly) anywhere without it these days, much nicer with the aluminum case vs. generic plastic ones

That one has proven to be the most accurate, plus it supports over 5V, so I can test my Quick Charge 2.0 chargers (which go up to 11V).

You want me to pick one? Unpossible?
For on the plane it's pretty much my Kindle Voyage and my Etymotic IEMs (plugged into my phone, which I'm not counting because I carry that even when traveling to the kitchen...). I might throw my iPad in there as well, but that's usually more for when I get to my destination (and have WiFi) than for the flight. (Although I've watched a movie from time to time.)
Honorable mention: Anker 5-port USB power charger. I've almost never found a hotel room with enough outlets...

I hate to +1, but these days it's absolutely my Smartphone... I carry a Moto X 2014, but pretty much ANYTHING released in the last 2 years is EXTREMELY capable. Even a $100 Moto E can do 98% of what a $700 Nexus 6 can. It's phone, email, GPS, calendar/planner, travel planner/itinerary, boarding pass, restaurant reservations, etc, etc, etc. If I landed in a city without my Smartphone I could still function for sure, but the level of convinience and amount of information on all subjects at my finger tips would be GREATLY diminished. I would gladly travel with ONLY my Smartphone and the clothes on my back before I traveled with everything else EXCEPT my Smartphone.

Our Top Universal "Must-Have" Travel Gadget
Almost all of us have a very small electronic gadget that we would never travel without. It can provide international mobile voice, text and data connectivity, beautiful photographs, supplemental battery power, wi-fi router functionality, and noise-cancelled music...and it weighs only a few grams.
