What is your top "must-have" travel gadget?
Hi all, I'm looking for ideas for a present. What is your top "must-have" travel gadget?
Thx! |
Hmm top must-have travel gadgets of mine not might be the perfect present.
My top defiantly would be 1. Tablet + e-Reader 2. iPod or equivalent 3. Expensive, high quality headsets 4. Various all in one chargers Depending on who is receiving the present accessories for gadgets can be great. (just some random ideas) 1. Swarovski accessories (I love these since they are actually pretty affordable and quite better than plain plastic cases and rings) 2. SD cards (Very difficult to have enough SD cards) |
must haves?
Bose Quiet Comfort headphones
IPad 2 or new version coming soon Free upgrades |
iPad 2 Edging out a laptop by a nose after a recent trip with just the iPad
- If I had the time InstaPaper mastery. SIM unlocked MiFi or similar device (don't have one, want one) One of the newer Android Phones / iPhone 5 (come mid summer end of T-Mo Contract) |
iPad (or other tablet) definitely.

-iPad 2
-Unlocked Galaxy Nexus -A DSLR (Nikon D7000 for me) and/or Canon Powershot S100 -A Garmin Nuvi GPS ( I have all the maps uploaded :p, it saved me in Africa!) -Some good Shure or Ethymotics earphones - "11 Macbook Air - AA batteries, SD cards, Pendrive. I don't use a laptop when traveling. I only travel for leisure, and bring the iPad 2. :). I love it for travels. |
If I had to pick just one item, it'd be a tablet computer (Ipad 2 still the best available IMHO), but noise-cancelling headphones are a close second for anything involving flying.

Agree with the other ops, iPad for me. Has videos, newspapers, magazines, books and Skype on. Keeps me entertained for hours.

My jailbroken iPhone4 with ATT's unlimited international data. It functions as my travel router most of the time, my alarm clock, my gym buddy, my camera, my main VOIP tool, my restaurant finding tool, my navigation tool, my global "satellite radio," etc.
In May of 2009 when I switched from Blackberry International to iPhone, I did a serious list of the apps I needed/wanted and compared iPhone and Android. At the time I had to give the nod to an iPhone. Android has matched it (without having to deal with the jailbreak). If I could do it over in 2012, it would be tough -- Google's free worldwide GPS would be tempting and as I pointed out in another post, it does better VOIP. My iPad is also great. It is my Kindle, global newspaper/magazine subscription, television, speakerphone, etc. |
If I had to pick one, it would be an iphone.
then, ipad then, bose headphones then, portable broadband router then, small digital camera (canon s95) then, laptop then, DSLR camera then, portable GPS unit |
Macbook Air 11 has made it unnecessary for me to travel with my iPad. It's just as light--and fast.

A 'tablet' of some kind. That takes care of the airport/airplane time.
