FAQ: Royal First Class Lounge and Royal Orchid Spa information and access.
Thought with the number of FCL and Spa questions littering this board it might be worth making a sticky with all the available information and also provide a place for members to ask their questions. Please let me know if you think it is a good idea and please let me know if any of the information I have included is wrong or if you feel anything else needs to be added.

Q: If arriving in TG F and departing in TG C the following day, will I get access to the F lounge?

A: Offically the answer is no as you need a same day ticket, however some people have been granted access in this situation. So very much a YMMV situation.

Q: If arriving in TG F and staying in BKK, is it possible to use the TG F lounge as an arrivals lounge?

A: Unfortunately this is not allowed, although exceptions have been made before. So officially it's not allowed, but there is no harm in asking.

Touch Of Silk Massage (Full body oil massage - 60 minutes for First Class only) – Ler's start your journey with a relaxing Touch of Silk full body oil massage. Delivered with the unique 'Thai touch', this massage will help to prepare your body for your onward flight by increasing blood circulation as well as relieving muscular tension and helping to provide the necessary hydration for your skin. On leaving the massage you will be left with an overall sense of well-being and total relaxation.

Neck & Shoulder Massage (30 minutes) – This is a great massage for passengers who are stressed, work at the computer too much or don't relax well. Neck and shoulder problems from routine activities are among the most common area for massage therapists to address. Using specific techniques the therapist will work to loosen tight muscles around the neck and shoulders whilst simultaneously assessing how much tension is held in the body and how best to release it. You will board your flight feeling more relaxed and a little lighter on the shoulders.

Relaxing Hand Massage (30 minutes) – Are your hands tired from all that clicking, driving, messaging and typing? If so, how about offering them a break and giving them a massage they truly deserve? By massaging the major channels/meridians of the arms and reflex points in the hands, this deep hand massage is designed to thoroughly release tension that accumulates in the hands and arms from our daily tasks. finishing with warm towels for both arms encourage muscle relaxation; this treatment can help to deliver a total sense of relaxation.

Relaxing Foot Massage (30 minutes) – Let's help prepare your feet for your onward journey, by taking the weight of them and giving them a relaxing massage that they truly deserve. Foot massage is a well-known relaxation therapy to help take care of tired feet. With the gentle touch of the therapists' hands, a sense of overall relaxation is induced. Deeper pressure by the fingers will help to stimulate your vital organs.

Spa access rules:

TG F departure = F spa access

*A F departures = No spa access

TG C departures = C spa access

*A C departures = No spa access

TG F arrival connecting to TG C = C spa access, however some people have been offered F spa access in this scenario

No guest are allowed regardless of class of travel

Q: Is it possible to book the spa treatment in advance?

A: No. You can book at First class check-in, at the FCL or the Spa itself - they will indicate the approx waiting time if more than a few minutes.

I have had some PMs from newer members who are confused by some of the abbreviations on this post. If you need help understanding them, FT has a great tool for looking up their meanings in the FT glossary.

Yes, the cocktail list is rather inviting! I guess your two options are drink faster... or stay in the lounge longer. Doing both? Hmm...

That's the official policy and YMMV. Unofficially, some pax (esp TG*Ps) have received the full one hour massage when departing in TG international business (subsequent to arrival in TG F).
I understand that is the official policy and MMMV. Was just hoping for some recent actual experiences as opposed to MMMV.

Sitting in a dungeon-like office in Ukraine working on a near-impossible project. Planning this trip is the only thing keeping me sane. Plus it keeps me typing on my computer so everyone thinks I am working the necessary 17 hours a day

Just to add that you can ask to swap the 1 hour oil massage for the 2x30 min biz class massages - so if you are F you can get 30 min head AND 30 min foot back to back.

YMMV and MMHV (that's "has" in case you're wondering). In fact, it has happened to me twice - F int arrival and J int departure, and I've received the 60 min full body massage. On other occasions, I've just received the 30 minute massage. Perhaps a function of how busy the spa is? Perhaps just luck? Others will post their experiences, I'm sure.

As LHR/MEL/Europe FF has said, you can get 2x30min massages but I really think this is an inferior experience to the 60 minute massage (which is fabulous - on more than one occasion I've fallen asleep during the massage and woken up feeling ultra-relaxed and "light"... hope that makes some sense). For various reasons, of course, some may prefer the 2x30 option.

krup krup YMMV. I don't like the 60 min massage - oil doesn't interest me. And I prefer a firm massage for both the shoulders and feet. So I' happy with the 2x30

Fair enough. Remember you can request no oil for the 60 min massage. You can also instruct them how to massage, so can have just feet and head/shoulders while enjoying the private jacuzzi massage suites.

As for firm, it amazes me how much power some of those massage girls have in their hands... really does wonders for those battle weary, tired and knotted up muscles!

Cocktail list? Meh.

I just instruct them to fill the glass to a certain level with vodka and then add OJ (in the morning) or soda (all other times) until topped off.

Before beginning this method I found the cocktails weak. Since then it's never been a problem.

Got to admire careful planning to squeeze ever drop of fun out of transit!
bold mine.

Something special about these? I have to say that a margarita is not the first drink that comes to mind in the Royal First Lounge...maybe I am missing something?

OK thanks.

I thought maybe it was a lounge specialty or something. I enjoy well made margaritas, so if they were something special I would give it a try on my next visit.

Who knows, now that you put the thought into my mind, I might give them a try anyway.

Not sure why, but I find a margarita is the perfect drink for the tropics, and a lovely preparation for a long flight!

Margarita, Singapore Sling, Long Island iced-tea... give them all a try

I've read many of the helpful entries and now I'm overwhelmed and indecisive. I have a few flights booked over the next 2 months in F and would really appreciate some guidance; I really haven't bothered much with the TG lounges as I tend to have tight connections, but this time is different.
-Next week
Ticket 1 ZRH-BKK F; Ticket 2 BKK- HKT C: The flight arrives at 05:30 and I can take the 1st flight out (approx. 2hr layover) , or delay it longer. I know I can do the immigration as I make the connection to domestic, but it can be hit or miss. My bag will be checked thru to HKT. (My flight is originating in North America on *A J class.) Will TG have someone meet me as I am using 2 tickets? Not that I need an escort, but sometimes the line at the immigration transfer desk is long.In march it was 2 minutes, but in April 25 minutes.

On the return, the ZRH flight is at 00:30 AM. The flights from HKT in August are notoriously late because of the rain and now with the runway issues it's a crapshoot.. In order to get the most out of the F lounge in BKK, what time should I get into BKK, and again will anyone facilitate my transfer. I prefer to clear immigration in HKT even though there is no fast track, but if there is fast track via the lounge I don't mind checking in again with my bag in BKK. I don't mind arriving in the afternoon and taking a dayroom at the Novotel if need be, but it's a bit of a waste I think. My real concern is getting to BKK. I usually take the flights from 14:30-16:30 from HKT and flight has been late from 1-2 hours in the past year.
Do any of you folks eat dinner in the F lounge before getting on the plane? It's an 11 hour flight and aside from eating, it is boring. I wouldn't mind getting 7-8 hours of sleep as I have another 12 hours of flying and layovers combined once I get to Zrh. Tight schedule this trip, but I'm hoping to sleep on the plane as alllong haul flights have beds.
Thanks in advance.

Your flight from ZRH is on TG? I would call TG and alert them to the connecting flight. In the absence of that the PA meeting you upon arrival will be expecting to take you to baggage.

There's been a back and forth regarding F lounge access for pax making a domestic connection. A few days ago someone reported doing this with no problem, but it's far from being guaranteed.

If you desire to check bags through to your destination then you'll need to go through immigration at HKT. seanthepilot regales a different experience, but this has always been the way i understand it to work.

In the absence of immigration at HKT you'd simply go checkin at the F aisle in row A, door 1.

Again, call TG and alert them to your HKT-BKK flight. If you have gone through immigration in HKT they will escort you through the process of getting into the international area.

Finally, the runway work has been concluded so it's not an issue.

Thank you for the response. This ticket is paid, However, I have an international reward ticket in First for October. Will I be able to access the lounges? I have asked about access in respect to the MLL lounges in an AC thread, but some airlines have their own policies in their hubs, and with TG I never know what the policies are, which is why I am asking the pros on a TG thread about TG.
